im still pricing out a plan, i need an idea for how much of a loan im going to need and decide if this is what i want to do right now. anyway....

houston performance will build a longblock for $5600
kenne bell is charging $4900 for the 14psi kit

i will still need 42lb injectors (~$300), a LMAF ($100), and 03 cobra tank w/ pumps (~$600). then im going to take it to kauffmans motorsports for a dyno-tune(~$600?). also gonna get a spec stage 3, my rear is already upgraded to a torsen with the saleen max-grip rear end, i guess its just a matter of how long will the little t45 go.

anything else i need? thanks! :nice:

IMO taking a loan out on a supercharger isnt probably the best idea. What happends if something else goes wrong and you need to repair something else.

Performance parts arent a necessity (yeah some with argue otherwise) but taking out a sizeable loan for a S/C plus all the other stuff just doenst make sense to me.

ditto...taking a loan for some aftermarket parts is not a good move
just work extra and pay your SC cash in couple of months :)

:stupid:

Taking a loan for a mod isint the best bang for buck.(Interest ext..) Credit lines are great, but they can screw you in the long run.

I'd say if your hell bent on it, go for it, but make sure that you budget properly and make sure you pay it off as fast as possible to avoid paying x% interest on the loan.

As far as total costs (original post), make sure you get abit extra then what your quoted, as above posts have mentioned. That extra power might just make a vulnarable part kick the bucket. If all works out, you can put that money back in to help pay the total off.

it's his credit, he can do watever he want.
BTW, if u just need the KB 14psi kit. they include everything from injector, BAP to support it. u dont have to buy 42lb injectors, and cobra bump.
IMO, just get the KB 9psi pulley kit for 4900.00. and have fun with it while u save money for forged internal and other stuffs. However, the new clutch is a definate one to get. I am having lots of fun with my KB rite now
BTW, i am in college, and i paid the KB by a credit card, actually 2 credit cards :D

edit: you will save more than 1G for just drop the injector, bump and dyno tune.

i blew my motor thats why i am taking a loan to fix it. i was going to get an engine built for a blower (blower cams, compression, etc) not taking a loan specifically to get a KB. thanks for the input :nice:

Mr GT 02 assclown :notnice:

 I think I remember you. Didn't you have like a little shed that you drove your Saleen up into? Something about a BMW... Wife... ???

gene- im doing ok, been better - i blew the engines in both cars (i have an 86 POS vw golf). sorry i missed you guys at the last meet back in july. i blew two shocks out and the car wouldnt have made it very well. hows the cobra treating you? are you still thinking about getting rid of it? do u still talk to mike often? i havent seen him on AIM in forever. i wrote him a PM a few weeks ago but i didnt hear back. oh well, maybe ill see u guys soon at the next meet ill bring the lightning down or something. my car wont be running until february/march probably because im going to take the next few months to plan out what i want to do and then start working on it over the winter

Well the KB Boost-a-pump with the 36lb injectors that it comes with is good to 600bhp. I wouldnt waste money on the 42s or the cobra pump. Im running stock internals on 12lbs. And have no fuel issues.

Just a thought

Good luck...its fun

Scott- Sorry to hear about your bad luck with the cars. My car is still acting up somewhat. And I am still thinking about selling it. I'll take a huge hit money wise, but I'm at the point where I don't care too much anymore. Thinking about a used Z06, TT Supra if I can find one at a good price, or maybe just get an 04 Cobra. But I am still up in the air with my whole car situation.

I haven't talked to Mike much lately.....actually today was the first time I talked to him in awhile.....talked to him in a post or two on here. I think he is having trouble with his internet so that is why you haven't seen him around.

Good luck with everything. :nice:
