^Thats probably Tim @ MPH, he one of a few that doesnt set it up based on load.
Here is what he said,

"I tune totally different than most tune files I've seen from other shops. I set spark curves up TOTALLY different. SCT base files are setup on "load". I dont tune this way. I set spark curves so there is no way they will change based on load. Load tuning is dangerous in my opinion. Its a different opinion than most, but I have a track record of not blowing things up so I tend to think my way is the way to do it.
So,no two tuners are alike. Ask Jim Fitz, he went through 5 motors and his car was tuned by some of the best out there. Ask him how many motors he has gone through with me tuning it. The answer is zero."

Tim is reguarded as one of the best modular mustang tuners in the country....but maybe he didnt know about the issue at the time....it didnt show up on his low speed/part throttle testing while on the dyno. Apparently the actual weight of the car on teh engine, made this happen.

Tuners all have their own "signature" way of doing things. Some choose to leave a large safety margin, and there is nothing wrong with that, but in some cases it can leave a lot of performance potential on the table.

Some will choose to tune for performance taking into consideration all variables and making sure the car is as streetable as possible. We have tuned 1800+ RWHP cars over the years (as well as a good friends injected Top Alcohol Dragster and his dad's TF Hydro Boat), so we know a few things about tuning as well.

so for just my basic adjustabilities on spark.. from all of your exp.. what about do you think i should set it at in each range w/ my setup? i had the a/f tuned out by a shop for 50 bux to whats considered "safe but makes power" and he set the timing but left me room for my own preference. where do u think it should be?

Do you have the ability to datalog? Or do you have any recent datalogs saved, maybe one that was "recorded" while this "bucking" was occurring.

If so, you are welcome to PM it to myself or Fast Eddie(Matt, Fast Eddie is his car) and we will be happy to look at it.

cams

the problem is in the tune, I have a 04 gt with 262s and an auto and it use to buck and surge all the time, I tried a mail order tune and it didnt fix the problem so I took it took someone and he fixed it perfectly. If you can live with that is good but I couldnt and automatics seem to buck and surge even more that the sticks.

im starting to think it definatly has to do with too much timing. with my timing knocked down two degrees its already better.

i cant data log today cause it started snowing (its about time).. but ill try to do it at some point in the weekend.

Which cable are you talking about. The X-cal uses a usb cable which can be bought for much cheaper than SCT sells it for. You can pick it up anywhere. Pearl02.

I don't really have this problem with my 262's unless I try to coast under 10 mph in 1st gear. That's when it starts to buck pretty bad. It didn't do that when it was stock, but it's a small price to pay for the extra power and the lope.
