what gear are you guys going through the traps in? and also what rpm? on the street will they help me to jump ahead of cars before they get a chance to catch up. also what speeds do 3rd and 4th gear take you to. sorry for the newb questions. im replacing my howling 3:55's and rebuilding the trac-loc and i think 4:10s will be faster on the street than 3:73's.

for mostly street, i;d say stay 3.73s. 4,10s are too steep for street in a fox IMO

i love 4.10s, with all motor or nitrous, id never go anythng else, its so perfect on the street, you cruise around in 4th gear and everything, Highway driving is really not what people make it out to be, it relaly feels like what mustangs SHOULD come with. Its also fun to go from barely being able to chirp 2nd to totally roasting 1st 2nd an3 rd.

I go through tthe traps in 4th gear, with stock gears i went through in 3rd gear, the best way to imagine what 4.10 swill be like is just imagine everythign is 1 gear less, 4th is like 3rd and so on.

gears are about the best thing you can do to a mustang... feel in the pants wise! best bang for the buck!

i have had 373s and now have 410. 410 is the way to go b/c for the slight higher rpm at 70 mph is not to much higher then 373 you will love 410s.

The 4.10s will turn the tires faster. If you are already spinning in first, you will probably spin some in second. Unless you have a bunch of horsepower, you arent going to be roasting tires in 3rd or 4th.

Huh?????

It depends on the application. I run 4.30's in my little pump gas streeter. Why? Because its the gear NEEDED for the combo to perform best. I had 3.73's and they were horrible for this combo.

I think some of you people need to get some first hand experience before hitting the reply button

In out 86 gt we have 4:10's with the t-lock and i love them.

It will spin the tires all the way threw 1st, 2nd and and in 3rd it will catch.

Get 4:10 IMO there the best

My first time at the track with my formerly stock 85 gt with only an exhaust, 4.10s and broken T5 ran a 15.1 @ 94 mph. I was redlining on the stock tach when I ran through the traps.

.512..Cam calls for 1.7s but I stepped down to take it easier on the valvetrain, the XE cams have very steep ramp rates and some sacrafice was made in hopes of being easier on the parts. Comp tech didn't see more than a few HP being the sacrafice, and the builder agreed...so that was the decision.

4.10s here but i'm swapping in a spare 8.8 with 3.73s to see if i can pick up some MPH in the quarter because my car tops out too fast. I'm nearly red lined in 4th when i cross the line, or at least i'm around 5k. I have a buddy with nearly the same setup as me and he's running almost a whole second faster than me because he's not destroying the tires off the line and he traps faster.

That said, i should point out that the last time i raced i had small tires all around, 215/60/15s so if i had a decent tire out back with probably 27-28 inch height that would hook, i'd probably run faster.

With the e-cam and ported heads you should leave the 4.10's in the car imo, put a 26x8or10 on it and you will be happy with the results.

If the motor is stock or mildly built stick the 4.10's in it, you wont regret it.

imo the 4:10's are freaking awsome. i love begin able to just fry them in 2nd, and get them to scream preaty good in 3rd... the down side is that 1st is usless around town but i dont care about that i just want to blow the little ricers away when they think they're bad and do a little burn out next to me at a light
