Im getting (hopefully Monday) a 95 COBRA. I want to eventullay build a 331 S/C motor for it but that will be at least a year away. My question is what H/C/I combo would work for now but would also work when I put the new motor together. Im sure the cam would have to be different on the S/C motor but what about heads and intake? Also what long tube headers make the most power?

Thanks

i agree on the AFR 165's, maybe even the 185's if your planning a stroker with boost. the intake you can go with an edelbrock or the cobra intake that the car will already have can be ported to flow really well. and a lot of cams that are friendly to the 94-95 computer also work very well with superchargers like the steeda #19

No you will have to notch the pistons.

Well to answer the initial question it depends on what you want to achieve power wise and ET wise. IMO...a V1/V2 s-trim kit ~10lbs of boost, AFR 165s, AFM B31 cam, RPM II intake, 70mm tb, 80mm maf, 42lb injectors, custom tune is pretty tried and true and will put down 475-500rwhp on pump gas all day long.

It really matters which cam you use. If you use a mild cam such as somoe of the Ford racing cams you will not have to notch the pistons. I've seen it done a few times.

I was just reading the article in the new 5.0 magazine about AFR 165 vs AFR 185's. It still left me hanging on when the 185's are needed over the 165's. The reason I wonder about this is because I want to get a set for now, then when I go to the 347, I want to still be able to use the heads I shucked out $1,300 for. The only diff. in the two is that the 185's have larger intake runners and intake valves. I think for the minimal gain that the 185's produced on their 347 test engine, the 165's are just as good, since I can use them NOW as well. The 185's are a bit much for a stock, or near stock displacement engine.

I think I'll go with the 165's. Then when I do the stroker, I can use them. Only if I add boost would I make changes...... even then on the exhaust side (like the AFR competition package has). Oh, and my GT40's are for sale. :D

BTW, like Mackey said, AFR says you DO NOT have to notch the pistons.....
