So cal
Im going to be purchasing a 95' Cobra. I cant make up my mind on what will be better for performance, with less hassle down the road..Its a 95 cobra with 45k miles on it. I want as much power as possible for the money. I have in mind Add kenne bell 8# boost, 36# injectors, msd stuff,70mm tb, full exhaust, 3.73's and some suspension mods, then tune. with that setup I was thinking 350hp/350tq to the wheels. VS. going with the heads/cam/intake + upporting mods...AFR 165's,steeda#19,trickflow intake, stock cobra injectors, FPR,70mm tb,full exhaust, 4.10's...Im guesing 300rwhp and 310tQ...which will have less problems down the road?N/a vs. Blower?

I would also go with the Kenne Bell. The N/A mods will not give you the torque of the Kenne Bell. Tell Kenne Bell of the injector size when ordering the kit and any other mods with the blower install and they will set you up with the correct program to make it run sweet. Go with as big a throttle body and MAF as you can afford as these blower respond very well to freeing up the airflow to the supercharger. Also Snow Performance makes an awesome water/methanol injection kit for about $400.00 that gives you a high level of detonation protection, let alone more power.:D

my decision is made. Kenne bell all the way. I want to touch the motor as little as possible, the goal is to beat a 02 trans am stock to lightly modded...I figure 95' cobra, Kenne bell 8-9psi+supporting mods /TB/MAF/fpr/full exhaust/gears/airbag suspension. What would the estimate hp/tq be? I want to go 4.10 gears with the supercharger to have balls to the walls acceleration but im not sure if its too much gear...or would it be better with 3.55/3.73s? How much boost will stock cobra block handle, I cant rember where I read, but i read not to go over 10 psi or ill blow head gaskets?..should I be conserned about gaskets with the blower?whats the limitations with the motor with the kenne bell at 9psi, I want as much power as the motor will safely take, will the stock pistons take 9 psi safely? I know for sure not to go over 450 or else split block. what will the limitations be? what about if I have methanol injection, how much more boost can I run?How much more power with methanol inj?

4.10s will be too steep for a kennebell setup
the kenne bell are known for the massive amts of torque they make throughout the rpm band
heck 3.73s and my gt motor with boltons and my first gear still feels useless at times

I would do 3.73s

I'd ditch the 36lb. injectors in favor of 42's or bigger + a tune. A H/C/I 302 could really get away with using 30lb. injectors, so adding 8 or 9lbs. of boost is definitely pushing the limits of some 36's.

Here are just a few general all around thoughts about your concerns :D

Seems like I've seen KB folk say after market afpr's don't fit with them

I've seen it said with KB's you want a big tb & maf

I also think 410's are overkill ... Just see what those who've done it say ;)

As for the boost and using it to gauge things ...............
Its not all that much of an indicator for anything as I've always seen it

You could have high boost on a stock block
then
Take that same blower with that same block with h/c/i & all supporting mods

You'd then see that value of boost go down ... way down

I'd be concerned with how much rwhp you are gonna make

You say you got a 95 Cobra
and
You don't wanna touch much of the motor
so
That tells me you're not gonna be in danger of splitting the block
with the small KB

About blowing hg's ... Boost ... high or low ... is not the sole reason
for that issue ... Usually ... not enough fuel or too much spark (tune)
is to be blamed for that.

For valid KB info ... Read anything you can get your hands on from
a very nice fellow who goes by the screen name of Don 95Vert.

Tons of his old posts can be found on the Corral

IIRC, MattZ281LE successfully ran a KB for a good while as well

Really ... if you wanna learn about what it is to own a forced combo
I'd start lurkin around on all the power adder forums
cause
That be where those who have D O N E it hang out
