H&R Super Sports installed, question in regards to ride quality

I've heard that after installing H&R Super Sports that my ride quality will be sacrificed, but is it normal for the car to be somewhat feeling "bouncy" while driving? I feel like everytime I hit the accelerator, I get a small bouncing motion at some points, and at other points, it's gone, I was just wondering if this is normal.

Small bumps and a harder suspension with a solid rear, you'll feel every bump there is. I guess you can call that bouncy.

Is your car an auto or 5spd? If its a 5spd, you probably just need to re-learn how to work the throttle with the suspension.. if its an auto, somethings not right.

H&R SS's respond very quickly and firmly, and shouldn't 'bounce'. You should feel a recoil and then rebound over lumps in the road and that be it, no bobbing or anything.

my car is an auto, and I haven't felt the bumpiness as much as I did the first day I got the springs installed. Is there like a "settling in" period?

Probably. Give it time. We have teh same setup when the shocks and struts are considered. Just you are a tad lower than me...jerk!

Oh, how much did you pay for your saleen kit? Looks sexy.

Anytime you lower a car the ride quality will never be the same. The springs and shocks/struts you went with are for performance. You went with performance over comfort. Those 18 in wheels don't help either. Your just gonna have to deal with the ride being bumpy. Get used to it or go with a different setup that doesn't lower as much like Eibach, Steeda, or Ford Racing..

I'm not sure if you want to be as low as me I tend to feel a lot of bumps and I definitely feel speedbumps now.

I paid $1407.24 for the Saleen kit ($1299+8.25% CA sales tax). I picked it up directly from Saleen headquarters to avoid freight charges. Too bad I couldn't avoid tax though

I prematurely thought that Bilstein shocks/struts would improve the feel of H&R Super Sports. It was Joe@Chicane Sport Tuning's recommendation, but then again, they're performance people.

I don't like my ride quality as much now, but everytime I look at my car from the outside, it looks so sexy that I have to live with it.

Were the springs installed properly? Are all fo the "pigtails" facign the proper direction? Did you get an alignment?

As i stated previously post , I have the similar set up and have had no problems with over 5000 miles on unit since installation.

I went to Chicane Sport Tuning to get my springs, shocks/struts, and caster/camber plates on. After they finished installing everything, they did an alignment for me. The car's drivability is better than before as time goes by so I was just wondering if there's such thing as a "settling in" period.

Chicane Sport Tuning gets all their parts from Maximum Motorsports, and they give free pinion subbers with all spring orders. Knowing Chicane's reputation for doing a good clean job (I've also seen many Mustangs at the Ford show at Knott's Berry Farm with people wearing the Chicane decal on their cars), I would think that they would know that it's necessary and should be done, especially if it comes free with springs from Maximum Motorsport. But I don't know for sure.

Well my Vert rides SWEET with H&R springs, stock struts and 40 pSI in the tires.

Ride is 100% then my stock 97 GT which rides like a truck !!!

Proof

Long, long drives, no complants from my passengers...............

FYI

Front ride will be harsh if sway bar is too tight..........

i have no front sway bar so far. you got 40psi in your tires? doesn't that affect your handling? well i'm not too sure, but the people who changed my oil said 35psi is good for gripping the road. so what kind of shocks/struts do u have? and do u have the H&R Sport springs or Super Sports?

I think the ride is better with my Steeda springs than with the stock ones. I love the look too

Ummm...40psi? I ususally do 35psi all around. Should I not?

And was that $1500 for a PAINTED kit? You installed it yourself I'm assuming?

If there is, it probably the driver's 'settling in' period. As mentioned before, you will sacrifice ride quality or comfort for performance.

Actually, the kit itself was around $1407 not including paint. Paint was around $500 plus $630 for 9 hours of labor on installation. Yes it was an expensive mod.

and 35psi is where you should be at, your tires handle better on 35psi as opposed to 40psi.

35 does handle better then 40 psi, but the tires get worn faster. its a trade off.

the bilstein is not the issue in the equasion. in my opinion its the springs. the SS springs give one of the lowest drops on the market. with a drop that low you are throwing off your entire suspension geometry which will cause ride issues on top of the NVH added from the stiffer springs.

one question you might want to ask is if chicane used spring isolators when they put the SS in. if not then that is a very good possability of where part of the issue is.

there are so many factors in the GT suspension that you prolly will never get the car to feel how you want it without either redoing the entire car or drasticaly sacraficing your cornering ability.

if you want to spend some cash you could swap out your springs for the MM Bilstein compatible coilover kit front and rear. it will give a better ride, more options for height asjustment, and allow for better control arms down the road. but its around 800 or so since you already have the dampers....
