Had to shift engine cradle today...

Well since i got the cobra wheels the car tended to follow cracks and slopes and unlevel ground. So Of course the fix for that is a bit more caster. And well since I dont have caster plates I Did it the only other way possible. Shifting the entire engine cradle forward. Managed to get it to 3.7 which took care of the leading and finally got my camber more or less even on both sides and fixed the toe finally. Gotta love always taking care of the little things that bother you with the car. Decieded to take the long way home and the car drove perfectly straight Once I drop the car next week though I am going to have to do this again but will need Caster/camber plates. Well Just thought I would write this up because well..... I have nothering else to do.

Well one thing, buying CC plates isnt an option right now seeing as I dont have 160+ to spend on that right now, especially if for 5-10 minutes of work I can just shift the cradle forward. Really wasnt that hard at all.

Was there that much slop in the holes in the K member, or did you elongate them?

Yeah there is a good bit in there to move, I got about a half inch. no need to elongate.

That's using your brain. Most people forget to use theirs (or don't have one)

How much did you have to shift it, just out of curiousity? The only issue I could see doing this is that you're moving EVERYTHING attached to the K-member, including the engine.. But even a 3/4" (which is a lot to shift something like that) really wouldn't have much affect on the drivetrain, but gets your alignment where it needs to be... Just thinking outloud.

Well funny thing is that since the motor mounts are worn well the motor really didnt move any, lol.

I never really thought about it being done that way. Got any pics? I'll bet it would be good fir "mild" drops. What was your caster, before you did it?

Well it was around 2.4 but with the move it bumped it up to 3.7 Which does a good job since it cost nothing to do, lol. And I dont have any pics but I can get some later this week that would be no problem.
