i came to the realization today that im starting to mature...just thought that id share.
when i first had my car all i wanted to do was go fast, i wanted to strip it and turn it into a track car i could drive on the street, now five years later im at the point where i want to fix all the little things that are wrong with it and just have a nice clean car i can have fun in and still drive daily or on a reg basis.

really no point to the thread...just alittle self realization

Been there, done that. Then I realized all I can afford (and probably all I WILL ever be able to afford) are stripped-down beater sports cars. Thus, I have an '84 LX that's still stuck with the crappy CFI and AOD, and it probably needs a head gasket, and thus it's undrivable ... and likely will be for a few months. :(

Funny ... something in this thread triggered an ad for Scientology. Perhaps it's teh Interwebz trying to guide you with online divine intervention. Or something. And stuff. Um, yeah. :D

Me too I just ran 10.85 with my 04 GT and I was like man all that work and money just for a time that 99% of people don't care about or even know what it means. LOL

Now I 'm getting ready to buy a 89 Vert GT tomorrow. I'm more excited about it than any of my other cars. Its going to be a driver only. :D

i bought my 88 vert and had these big plans and money be damned! Now i just want to make it nice (going to try to do the seats and carpet this winter, i said that last winter though...) and not really interested in going fast anymore.

Yep, been there. It's the reason I bought a second 5.0 to keep (basically) stock and use as a daily. I still have the '90 for when I want something to beat-up on though. I'm 38 years-old but I haven't grown up that much. :D For daily duty my '92 is a much more enjoyable car to drive on congested L.A. streets.

I would leave mine stock, but sorry, a 155-horse 302 just ain't cutting it. That CFI simply MUST come out, and that four-banger-lookin' single-outlet exhaust has GOT to go.

I'll just be happy, more than anything, just to be able to drive the thing AT ALL. I hate having a non-functional driveway ornament...

I got my first mustang when i was 17 back in 1992 and it was a 1989 GT and that was soon followed by a 1993 notchback.....fast forward to 2007 and I decide that I want another mustang so I buy an 89 LX so I can do all the things to it that I could not afford when I was 18. Well I soon came to the realisation that I had more cash back than than I do now, oh well at least i have a 5.0.

I could never understand why people rip out the inerior, a/c, and ect; I know why you do it on a track car, but it devalues a street car it makes it less fun to drive IMO. Everything in my car works at this moment.:D Now if I can just make it nice enough to get mistaken for a German car.*cough* M3. *cough*

Yea I saw a kid at the track (import car) literally strip the whole car at the track run blazing times of 17sec and then put the car back together to go home. He had all the seats out, door panels, center counsel, roof linear, and anything else that would come out. LOL

I ended up lining up with him that night and after running over 6.5secs faster than him he came and looked at my car. I told him I was at full weight with A/C, Stero and all the other goodies. He just stood there with a shocked look on his face. Then I told him it was on stock suspension and that I damn near DD the car and he almost passed out. HAHA

Having a nice fast daily driver is important to me. My first mods on my Mustang have been Shocks/Struts, Sound Deadener, Sound System, fixing the AC, etc... getting all those comforts back.

Now it is slow as hell, but its definitely nice and fun to drive. A GT40 top end and some spray might wake it up pretty nicely though :D

i was thinking and one thing i would take out in the interior is the 2 fornt seats and replace them with these

but obviously keep the originals around just in case. you know, for values sake.
