haha, just my luck

So, its about 1pm today, im riding along down to the dmv. pulled in to get some gas. pull out...a cop starts tailing me....all the sudden..lights go on.

I pull over, and JUST MY LUCK, my F***in driver side window will not role down:bs: and i have 15% tint all around.

So i open the door while his hand is on the gun, and this jerk off writes me up for no front licence plate, my tint, and i dont know about this B.S. but the rosery around my review mirror.

and the jerk off said, i was only pulling you over for your licence plate, but also noticed the tint now.

good thing he didnt luck under my car:rolleyes:

haha i think imma go buy a lottery ticket.

Well, California is in the midst of a severe budget shortfall and several downgrades on their government/municpal debt issues. Believe it on not - one of the easiest ways for a city to cut corners on law enforcement funding is to issue more tickets. One cop can pay for his whole days salary (or several days) on just ONE ticket.

He's a jerk off because you broke the law?

Tinted windows are illegal in most places, because of night driving where they severly impair your vision, let alone for officer safety, when they can't see who is in the vehicle, or what they're doing inside. I'd have my hand on my gun, too if I was an officer and someone who I couldn't see started stepping out of the vehicle in my direction. The gun might even clear leather if I couldn't see your hands, immediately after ordering you to show them to me.

No front plate is illegal in some places. Here in IL, I've been cited for the same thing. I paid my $25 fine and took it like a man. It's not a moving violation, and I knew the law when I decided not to run the front plate. I've had no front plate for 9 years and have only been cited for it once. Something tells me he added the obstructed view ticket for the rosary based on your attitude, even if you weren't overtly rude to him, but expressed, or implied a good bit of displeasure in how he conducted himself. Opening the door is, as you found out, a big no-no to police, so it was probably downhill from there.

I love these types of threads, by the way. It only reinforces my belief that most peoples' opinions of law enforcement officers directly impacts what happens when they interact with them. I'll admit it, I used to be the same way. I was a punk kid who disliked police. Once I grew up (mentally, not just physically), my experiences with police went from tickets, to verbal warnings, and usually a polite conversation for a few minutes, before being sent on my way. Just something to think about for next time and maybe you'll also take a moment to see it from their side, too.

you mean it's illegal to hang something from the rearview mirror? WTF? i dont know what it matters what you hang from your rearview mirror, as long as it's not obstructing your view of what's going on behind you, or your view out the windshield and keeping you from driving safely.

i'd have to tell someone to take flying suck at my forthright point of contact over that one.

but as for the tint, and no front license plate? that's ya own damn fault. i have 5% by choice, and I know the risks.

we don't have front license plate req's here in Tennessee so no worries on that.

but if I were you, so you aren't punchin holes in your bumper, get some industrial strenght velcro, and mount a high powered magnet on the inside of the bumper shell, and then put your license plate on the outside and you should be good to go.

Ive been there before, cop stopped a few yrs back for window tint also,It was at 4% when he put the meter on.TICKET that time.

And In april the day I got the Mach a trooper pulled me over for going 2 miles over the speed limit, checked my tint(it was legal then),looked under my car and then searched my car...why?I have no clue,I was very nice.not rude,or did I seem displearured and guess what? That Jackass gave me a ticket for 2 miles over the speed limit...not a warning.Judge threw that one out.

Then 4 yrs ago I got ticketed for stopping at a yeild sign while no traffic was coming through.:bs: He said thats not a stop sign.

Then maybe a month ago I was stopped by a motorcycle cop, said he wanted to check my tint. Its legal on the mach.

All those for being nice to them....:notnice:
I respect law enforcement,my grandpa was a Harris County Deputy sherrif and then was a DPS trooper,But im getting to the point to where I really dont care for them.

Im not even gonna talk about 2 other times when they drug me outta the car onto the ground with shotguns in my back for no reason, thought I was a hispanic male that just robbed a store...I freakin white as a damn ghost, blond hair and blue eyes.....:rlaugh:

Sarcasm.
The object hanging from the rear view is actually a law, but i've never actually heard of someone being cited for it. That's pretty incredible - he knew he was going to write you a ticket as soon as he saw you and your car. No way around it.

Yup, I was suprised when he said its an obstruction of view also...i was like, wow, this is suppose to keep me safe. ha. I still have Faith, and will continue hanging it there for my own safety (health wise).

and btw, hows your car coming along....any updated photos ?

The window in my 04 does that too. It's always rolled up fine, but sometimes it won't roll down. I've tried banging, and holding the switch and slamming the door, and it very rarely works. I've noticed that the window only gets stuck up when its extremely hot, it did that to me last summer and a few times this summer but it's never done it in weather below 90 or 95.

YES!!!, it freakin does, i kinda hate driving the car in weather above 90 degrees, it seriously feels like the entire car really lags. I got the window fixed, only after it cooled down and while i was still banging on it....but i kinda hate how i have to fix it like that. (bang on the door)

you dont.... i just have to ride with my windows down at night, theres only been a few times when i had to leave them up, but its hard to see anything

for me, I have hard time see thru when it rains, and back out the car at night. other then that I have no trouble in the day time, accept have to roll window down every time i saw a cop.
