i have a stock lx hatch need my car to handle turns better and have a better stance

whats the best set up to use?

should i go with lowering springs or adjustable shocks? how many (inches lowered) would clear 18" and how many inches would clear some 17" i want the fenders to align perfectly

what sway bars strut tower braces and subframe connectors are good?

anything else out there to keep the chassis bending while cutting corners?

im a noob to modding cars just want better handling.

what wheels should i get? i like chrome im thinking of doing a 5 lug conversion and getting y2k cobras since there a bit underrated to most or chrome 4lug 03 cobras if i dont do the 5 lug conversion maybe even bullitts

from start till finish what should i go with?

lmk thanks guys!:nice:

Let us know what your budget is.
I could rattle off 10 grand worth of stuff, but if you aren't into spending that much it would serve no point.
Second, do you plan on doing it all at once?

planning to do it throughout time 1 grand here 1 grand there within a range of a year

btw for riding weld draglites what sizes and tires would be a good set for street use? having a change of heart on chrome replicas

so do you want the car to handle, or do you want draglites? you cant have both. If you put corner carving suspension on a car with draglites, its kinda like dressing a hooker in a business suit

Are you messing with us?
A post ago you want to cut corners, drag lites do no good on anything but drag race cars.
You try to cut a corner on a set and your car is just going to go straight, then when you try and stop is not going to do that either.

you have some decisions to make. Most of the time you can answer your own questions by doing some research. Mustangs can become great road race cars, drag cars, street cars, show cars, even drifters if that's what floats your boat. But you have to decide, get your ducks in a row...

my sig is sitting on Eibach pro kit progressive rate springs, good comfort on the road and handles great around the corners. 2" drop in the front and 1.5" drop in the rear. And 17x8" 01 bullet replicas that don't rub.

I think everyone on here would agree MM probably has one of the best setups you could get. But you will pay for it. as far as sub frames any will do as long as they are boxed and made from decent thickness.

bullitts dont come in 4 lug so you would have to do a 5 lug swap. there are soooo many options after this. 5 lug would allow you to run cobra/bullit/mach brakes so that would increase your stopping power dramatically. Everyone on here has there own flavor for suspension. I have tried eibach and FMS springs and had good and bad to say. I like the kyb's for struts and shocks as they are fairly inexpensive while others will swear by tokicos, eibach etc .....

truth be told, any setup will net you a huge advantage over the tired 20 year old suspension. my first things were the subframes, springs and later I did the shocks and struts. all added a great deal of handling and comfort to the car.

Alright you need to figure out exactly what the car will be used for, you CAN drag race a road race suspension car, just dont expect it to hook hard off the line, but you can still get it to handle, if you drag a drag car thats all you get to do, dont even think you can go tooling through the canyons at 100mph+ without ill effect, so heres my 2 cents, stick with 1 brand of suspension manufacturer, it will help in the long run, personally i run Maximum Motorsports awesome customer service, all parts available individually so you can take your time or just drop 5g's and have it done in a week, go with coilovers so you can choose whatever ride height you want for whatever rims, 5 lug conversion with at minimum 95 GT brakes and at least a 255/40 tire, when you've done all that then you can decide on what rims you want to run. But just because i know people hate 1 brand answers, here are a few companies that make good handling products
Griggs
Agent 47
Steeda
Team Z(certain parts would work for either drag racing or handling but not sure if they offer more)
Grantelling
I've listed them in this order since i believe other than MM these are how they line in performance/price comparison to each other, however stay away from UPR they offer decent looking suspension product for a decent price but know they are NOT meant to handle in anyway and would not be safe to try and do so, just my opinion and i'm sure more knowledgeable people will chime in

sorry guys i know it sounded dumb but i just want the rim style with maybe 15x7 on the front and 15x8or9 on the back what tires would work for a corner carver i want them to be semi skinny on the front i want that drag look w/good handles around my area theres too many stangs on cobras and saleens as if thats what they came with from the factory need something different.

may go with rodlites. do they may 4lug prostars?

i might just say eff it keep my stocks on for the meantime and try my luck finding a set of roh zs's if the 15inchers wont be right for the suspension im aiming for

whew i feel dumb lol sorry for the mix up guys

Was this a serious question??? the answer is NONE. DRAG RIMS ARE NOT MADE FOR CORNERS

this is gonna be one of those threads where someone gets good advice and takes none of it.

None of those rims are good for handling.
15's have too much sidewall, so do 16's, too much flex.
You want to handle you'll use 17's or 18's.
And semi skinny is out of the question, the more rubber on the ground the better the car handles.
Rodlites and prostars are horrible for handling.

Show your 4 lug 18" Cobra R's on a Foxbody

Looking to buy some 18" cobra r's, 4 lug. I am still thinking about converting to 5 lug, but will not do it if I can find these rims. Help me out with information on where to buy.
Thanks
