Hanging Brake Calipers?

hey all, i have a problem with my 97 cobra...when i drive, the front brakes chirp. when i brake, the chirping stops. i thought it was just because the pads that are on the front right now are basic cheapo carquest pads, but someone told me that it could be that the calipers are hanging up a little, and that its common on cobras...anyone know whats goin on? if they are hanging up, how can i fix it? thanks in advance...

Did you overtighten the bolts when you mounted the caliper back onto the bracket?

i wasnt the one who did the brakes, they were done at the chevy dealer where i bought the car used...so im not sure *shrugs*

Usually the wear indicated chirps and then stops when you brake. If they are new pads check to see if they do have wear indicators and see if the installor poss bent one in far enough to make contact or they didn't put new brakes on the front and they are worn enough to chrip!

cheap pads on the cobra do make noise, no doubt. also check your rotors. did they turn them??? Are they warped?
