hanging idle after disconnecting battery

so last night I was doing a bunch of wiring for gauges and wideband and yada yada....

I disconnected that positive cable for a couple hours while I did my work and now when driving around town the idle just hangs and it's stupid. It never did this before I disconnected the battery. And it doesn't sound like something that would affect the idle to me.

I checked every last vacuum hose and connection from the air filter to the lower intake. I even reloaded the tune from my SCT and still nothing.

Just give the PCM a bit to re-learn the engine's idle characteristics.

How long is sufficient for it to adjust before I raise concern about something being wrong? I've driven it for 10+ miles now with no difference.

it usually takes my car longer than 10 miles to re learn the idle. It seems like it takes a few days for my car. And then it also has to re learn the idle seperate for when i turn the A/C on. I wouldnt worry about it. Give it a few days.

I'm right there with you man, from having battery problems, (sweeping gauges), intake manifold worries, and any squeak, thunk or smell, if it can't be explained I ask around.

Give it a tank of gas or 100 miles of normal driving, but I see your Vortech might make that get out of hand.

Or you can do like the manual says.which I doubt most people have read. When you've reconnected the battery just start the car and let it sit for a few minutes. The idle will surge but eventually the ECU will find its idle. A lot faster than waiting a few days or a whole tank of gas

Of course it finds idle in a min or two, that was easy...but the idle hangs btwn 1k and 1.5 when driving and taking out of gear

I have the same exact problem.

If I start the car in the morning it idles at around 1000rpm for warm up and then drops to around 700 rpm. Once I drive it a couple miles it hangs at around 1100 rpm. If I shut the car off and restart it idles at 700 rpm again until I drive it a couple miles then it starts hanging at 1100 rpm.

I thought it might be the IAC but the weird thing is that it idles fine if I turn the car off then restart it. I'm gonna take off the IAC and give it a good cleaning and see if that does the trick but I would think that if it was the IAC it would do it all the time. Same for a vacuum leak. If it's leaking it should do it all the time.

Also, it doesn't matter if the engine is just warmed up or has been running for an hour or so.

Any suggestions?

Disconnect the battery again. Clean the TB with a cleaner safe for Teflon lined TB's. Clean the MAF & air temp sensors with CRC's MAF cleaner product and try it again.
