I was wondering if anyone has any direct experience with the central pneumatic air compressor's these guys sell. I have a couple of coupons where I could get their 21 gallon 3hp unit for right around $100.00.

compressor

I have one of those. Great price, very portable but limited usefullness. It works o.k. for nail guns and impact wrenches. Won't keep up with grinders, drills, ratchets and paint sprayers. I bought a 60 gal, 70hp compressor from Sears and that is all I use now. It keeps up with everything.

Thanks, that is kind of what I figured. I do not have a 220 circuit available in my garage, getting one their would be very destructive, cutting ceilings etc. Might have to go that route, probably will be buying from Home depot cause I have alot of $$$ in gift cards. Any reccomendations on a 110v compressor that can be used for painting and bodywork?

compressor

I think my 60gal/7hp is about the minimum for painting (at least with HVLP). There is always the possibility of a gas powered compressor but a good one will cost more than running 220v and getting the bigger electric compressor. I'm lucky in that I have 100A of 220v in my garage.

A 110 volt electric A/C is going to be around (4-10 CFM) and will have a hard time keeping up with a d/a sander which normally means you will have to let it build pressure every now & then. I have a Hitachi EC10 that I like but when I have a large project I get a larger gas 24cfm from my store. I have people bring in their cheaper a/c & pressure washers into my store to get them fixed and it some times ends up being a dead end. The other way to look at it is that you can buy 3 for what I have in my Hitachi.
