Hard to change gears..

So all of a sudden on the way home from cruise night and after participating in a small burnout contest my car got harder to change gears. The clutch is new and it started all of a sudden when I was almost home. As of now the clutch engages/disengages very high up so I know that the cable isnt stretched or anything like that. Now I know my tranny is kind of on its way out (no second gear synchro) and maybe now its starting to finally die but what do you guys think it is??

How is the release on your cable / clutch? How high up does it take before your car starts rolling?

Things to try
1) Change your tranny fluid because you probably cooked it at the contest
2) Try adjusting the pedal to see if that solves it

I adjusted my pedal and it did nothing different because my clutch already disengages very high up. The tranny fluid in there is only like 6 months old as well (synthetic).

With the pedal all the way to the floor you have to release it very high up to get the car to roll? If that is the case than your clutch is:

1) Really worn out
2) You stretched the cable
3) You need a new quadrant / FW adjuster.

The car should start moving almost the instant you start lifting your foot off the clutch.

srothfuss i think you have the exact opposite, if your cable is worn then the car will start rolling with the clutch near the floor, with a properly adjusted cable, the clutch should start to engage about halfway, if not a little bit above half way, and should be totally disengaged at the floor, if not sooner, and should have at least 3/4 inch of free play when pedal is released, to ensure there is no load on the TOB when pedal is fully released, as this wil cause premature wear on your TOB and aluminum (if still equipped) front bearing retainer

as for the problem at hand... if its hard to shift into every gear then it might be your bearings having too much friction, especially the input shaft bearing. i would plan on getting it rebuilt or doing it yourself in the near future

Yeah I definately am planning on throwing in a new tranny. I was just planning on beating this one to the ground. I mainly asked these questions cause I'm still driving the car and was wondering if the tranny is ready to die (and if it will leave me stranded anywhere). Thanks guys
