I got tired of the two boobs on my windshield from the suction cup mount so I decided to hard wire the detector. Pretty simple to do, A Pillar popped right out, wire ran down there pretty easy, coat hanger to pull it through.
I tapped right into the Daytime Running lamp fuse since my car aint got no daytime running lamps.

I was waiting for that question.....
The stock mount that came with it was a dual setup. It was a suction cup and clip all in one. As a suction cup mount it was ok, as a clip it sucked.
So, I took on of my Garage door opener clips, applied some heat shrink for better grip to the inside of the headliner and tada!! New awesome detector mount.
B.R.B., I will go take a pic of that.

Thanks, it is even better now that the detector is now powered with the ignition and not the battery. That way, I can never forget to turn it off.
Just trying to get everthing wired up since my SkyFi2 will be here Monday.

same here. I use the optional remote kit from escort for 30 bucks and have addiional LED warning under my boost gauge.
The radar turns on with ignition automatically and can barley be seen...

Very nice

I see you have the Roady also.
My SkyFi2 will be here tomorrow. Got it for $49 with the Car Kit on the XM Friends and Family deal.
I am going to put mine here, like in this pic, this guy has the V1 too:

I am going to do this over the weekend. I have already removed the defroster grill and there is a square hole under it I will attempt to fish a wire down through and behind the dash. Has anyone else done it this way?

I was gonna do that too, but I thought you were supposed to put the detector in the center of the windshield for best results.

I am going to put it in the center bottom resting on the defroster grill. The wire will come out right next to the detector there...

yeah, i wanted it up in the corner on the drivers side or above the rear view mirror, but since i havea drop top my rear window is hella small, and i was afraid that the rear "eye" on the detector would not look behind me very well. so its underneath the rear view, a little more obvious than i would like. i'll have to post a pic in a few hours when i get home from work. i like the "custom" mount that you made mcmmotorsports......

I see some 04 models don't have the netted storage area on the headliner.

forpointsex,

How did you mount your valentine one? Did you use the visor clip on the headliner, or did you use the suction cups? Also, how did you hardwire it? I just got one last night for a graduation gift and was going to wire it up today. I was planning on using the stereo power feed because the radar shouldn't draw too much and I am the wire is easily accesible once the stereo is removed. Thanks.
