Has anyone crack the case on a C4 streetfigher?

I cracked mine about a month ago I was just bagging the gears like I all ways do. I got a nice bark out of 2nd gear and then white smoke. I ran the tranny dry before I even knew what happened. All this happened at night so I could not see the smoke untill I came to a stop and a car got behind me. I pulled over and shut the car off and about a 1-2 quarts just draind out on me. I have crack at 3 inches long on the left side of the case.

no...but i siezed my manual valve body once ...

and i had a 3 speed that locked up on me while doing 70 on the freeway...

blew my rear end a few times....


do you have a warrenty?

Case cracking happens from a few things. Misalignment, too much power, or highline pressure. Yours sounds like maybe the line pressure is too high. Depending on where it actually cracked. A c-4 doesn't generally like more than 180-200psi. Run more than that, like in alot of aftermarket valvebodies, and you get splittage.

I've been thrashing mine pretty hard behind the new engine and so far so good. Defineatly give TCI a call.

I have a TCI streetfighter and havent had any problems, but im not running crazy amounts of power through it or anything. the warranty really isnt that good. what is it, like 90 days or something? it could have just been a bad core too, already had stress on it. all tci does is rebuilt c4's to there specs.

Do like me....buy a book and rebuild another C4 yourself! The one I built is equivalent to or better than the TCI street fighter and I only have about $200 tied up in it. C4's are easy to rebuild and modify.

Yeah the warrenty is like 90 days. I got it back in July and maybe only put 500 miles on it. I live in Pa now because I go to school up here. I go back home once every 6 months. So when I went home last time I beat the piss out of the car and this happened and a LOUD KNOCKING started Think I burned a valve up. I got a little over 2 months left then Iam back home and can work on her again.
