Has anyone ever seen casting numbers like this?

I know the actual numbers are hard to see, I'm more interested at this time about the orientation. They look to be going vertical. I'm stumped. This is the motor in my '89 Fox, a former four popper. Anyone have a clue?

Yes.

Those plates are nothing more than "tacked" to the mold used to create the casting. They aren't always in the same place.

So it's a normal casting, just skewed in some weird layout?
