my friend pills sold his cobra for a 07 gsxr 1000 an has wrecked it twice already in the mountains dont get me wrong this guy can drive its just that he is a really stunt junky so if it were me id stick with the stang unless you feel like walkin on busa's all day every day
Remember, you can keep your mustang forever, selling it to get a trendy expendable crotch rocket just doesn't make sense.
You can be 50 cruising with your then to be classic mustang. Can't say the same about your rice rocket, which in 10 years will be worth enough if your lucky to buy your new car a set of rims and tires.

If you want a bike, go get an older metric bike; quick enough to have fun with, slow enough to not get too stupid.
I am selling my 77 750 super sport... quick enough to run against a dodge viper 25-85 mph, not stupid fast to run low 11's... mid 12's for a learner is fine.
it cost me 16.25 cents a month to insure.

Learn to ride on a slower bike first before you get a much quicker bike. Most squid 600CC's will run low 11's.
Oh ya and at the price I want for my bike-- bang for the buck can't be beat.
I heard all sorts of horror stories about people getting smeared all over the road ,people being a holed and all end in death.
It's the American scare tactic, there is no feeling like being on two wheels and yes, everyone is out to run you over so you have to be 10 times more alert as to what is around you...
If you see a car pulling up to an intersection---expect them to pull in front of you.
When at a stop light... I flash my brake light numerous times to let the person ahead know that I am stopped. Blinking lights catch eyes. I also keep the bike in first until I have a car stopped behind me, you never know when you may have to get moving quickly.
If you pull up to a line of cars and there are no cars behind you , leave yourself an out... a car back and a place to nail it if you have to... Always expect the unexpected and you have a good start.
Watch Ride like a pro video and that helps a lot too. Take a MSF course if you can get into one.
If your tired, stay off of the bike. Watch out for sunrise or sunset...more accidents occur in those time frames than any others.

And don't go riding inbetween slow-moving cars as if there isn't a care in the world. I see bikers doing it every day. These guys are just begging to be clipped and it will be their own fault for putting that much trust in other drivers.
And once you get used to the bike and feel comfortable and you adhere to all the possibilities and cautions that were mentioned above let em hang...lol

+1 to everything Notch93 said. There is NOTHING like riding a bike. You need to be respectful, aware and defensive. The upside is the pure energy of riding a missle that handles like a cat on a rug.

Just don't hop on one of these monsters above as your first bike. Get some mileage under your belt and learn the feel of a bike, get used to throwing them around and after a year or two and you know you won't be acting completely crazy, move up.

Oh ya, and bikes are a sickness like mustangs, but when you get a bike and after having my mustang for 8 years, I tend to throw money at the bike first. When your not riding, you think about riding.
My wife's sisters are all jealous because she has been on the back of my bike and neither of them have even been on a bike.

I enjoy cruising the vintage GS Zuk... strong enough to gank the front tire, mellow enough to cruise all over with a quiet shaft drive.
It's an 82 with just under 18,000 on the clock.
