Absolutely. Too much to list in a single post.

you often have to roll the fenders just to fit 17x8's with 245's (at least with the 65/66)

Well, a few things come to mind. In order to put 17 x 12's on rear, you can get airshocks and/or shackles get that rear end high enough to clear the 4 or 5 inches of tire that is gonna stick out

or you can tub the car, which will require narrowing the rear end , but this is expensive

as far as putting 17 x 9 on front, i doubt it, i have 17 x 8 all the way around, and the front has the fender lips rolled and even tho it don't rub now, there's not another 1/4" of clearance in there

17 x 8 is about as big as you can go imo, without extensive and expensive modifications

There is one other way to do that looks....ok.....and that is with flares.....some people like this look and some people don't but basically rather than narrow anything you use fiberglass flares on the fenders to make the fenders winder so wider rims and tires fit under it.....I've some that look ok and i've seen some that just look fugly. This is a huge visual appearance change though so if you don't do it right, it just looks terrible.

Here's a pic of my 65 with 17x8 4.75 back spacing all around...235 45 17 in the front, 255 40 17 in the rear. Suspension is 5 leaf mideye in the rear, 620 drops and the shelby a arm mod in the front, 4 wheel disc brake, rolled rear fenders.

Why would you want 17x12s?

Cheapest way to do it is with fender flares, but you would need some pretty big flares. Who even makes a 17x12" wheel?

I cant imagine the cost of a tire! (well, I guess I could imagine)

The wheels are from a 2002 (or so) Explorer, 16x7's with sticky 225/50's all around. I am also using 1.5" aluminum BOLT ON SPACERS on all four corners, and not the crappy cast kind either, the good machined hunks of 6061-T6 aluminum. I don't want my wheels falling off .

The suspension is the usual 620's, shelby drop, blah blah blah , all the same sort of stuff others do. But I do have a Taurus rack and pinion, which is much better than the stock steering system by far. If you want other details check out my webpage for more info.

damn!
that looks amazing
thats almost to a T the look I am shooting for with my 66 when its completed

this weekend I finally got my front rotors back on (new thicker/longer wheel studs) and the new calipers and pads... then stuck some washers for spacers on there to get an idea of what the rims I was going to use a year ago (til I got Bullitts, which I do now... killer deal on teh waffles) would look like.

mods on the front are ProMotorsports camber kit/1.5in drop and Mustangs Unlimited 600lb drop coils along with KYB shocks and Granada discs. The back is total stock, but will get dropped around an inch after the Bullits are put on to decide on the amount of drop I want. Also will add a sway bar to the rear and a bigger one up front.
