I joined to try and resolve this issue... I bought a 2005 Roush Sport a few months ago and couldn't wait to start bolting on some upgrades. That said I ordered "the e kit" from rpm outlet because I figured i'd be getting the most bang for my buck. Anyways it came with c&l racer intake and a 95mm MAF, gt500 throttle body, i bought a spacer along with it, a set of underdrive pulleys also. It came with an sct sf3 tuner, which i knew i would need to make this system function properly. I got the intake and MAF, and the underdrive pulleys and C.O.P.s so far and wanted to go ahead and try to use the tuner and see what results i had. I'll go ahead and be honest and admit to knowing absolutely NOTHING about tuning a car, but i figured if i played with it long enough i could get it running right.

Here is what happened despite what i tried to do with the tuner: The engine seemed to be running fine at start up. I noticed the strong smell of gasoline and also a lot of extra smoke coming out of the exhaust as if it were running rich. As far as driving the car, it seemed to be running ok but i slowly accelerated because i didn't know hwo the engine was going to react to the bolt ons, at 3500 rpm the engine completely bogs down in every gear. I tried nearly everything i could think of with the tuner and it just kept bogging down at 3500 rpm everytime. I got frustrated after about an hour of fiddling with the tuner and not getting any change in results........ can ANYONE help me?!!!

You listed a bunch of parts there. You say you got some, but did you install anything except the tune? If not that might be your problem. The tune should be set up to work with the other parts, and it probably won't work right without them. Try reinstalling the stock tune to see if that resolves the issue.

If you put the throttle body on it could be causing the problem. I had a similar problem when I installed a BBK throttle body. My car would idle at a high rpm, smell like gas and smoke. I'll attach a link to an article below that you should read through. It shows how to adjust the TPS readings in case they are not reading correctly with the new throttle body. I'm not sure if it applies to the cobra throttle body, but you can check and see.

I don't know who does the tunes for RPM Outlet, but for future reference, steer far clear of them. MANY MANY MANY people have had troubles with their customer service. Just do a quick search an you'll see.

As far as what you're experiencing, I would get a real tune from Doug at bamachips.com or Brent at brenspeed.com

Either of those tuners are going to give you a lot more performance than the tune you currently have, and it'll run correctly.

Thanks for all the advice guys, i just sent an email to Bamachips to see if he can hook me up with a tune. I just hope his tunes will work with the sf3, from what i gather the sf3 has preceded the xcalibrator3.

About the Throttle Body. I haven't installed it yet it wasn't shipped on time with the rest of my parts.... imagine that... i won't be buying anything else from rpmoutlet.....

doug from bamachips is great for helping with problems, he gave me lots of help and spent lots of time e mailing back and fourth with me to fix a problem i had. in the same breath i have had very good experiences with brenspeed too, both have excellent customer service and tunes.

I dunno, think the're all about the same. I had a tune go bad in my 05 bout a week and a half ago and am still waitin to hear back from Doug. Heard from him once and that was it. Think it's time to get it on a dyno and be done with all the BS.
