Dont remember if its always been like this with the mgw shifter so i dont know if thats it and i know it is a tough/solid shifter, but recently after driving for 30 mins or so it becomes increasingly difficult to shift.

I really have to bang the shifter in to have it go into the gear position. Is there something that needs to be serviced/lubricated in the trans?

Is it new or have you had it for a while? MGW takes a little* more effort than say, Tri-Ax, but not enough that you should be struggling to get it into gear. May be something with the tranny.

Is it doing it in all gears, or just certain shifts? How many miles on the car? It shouldn't be your MGW. Has the fluid ever been changed in your car...done recently? Does it feel like your clutch isn't engaged/disengaged (whichever is the correct term) when you goto shift, like shifting without the clutch pressed?

Maybe its that Novi...why don't you send it to me and I'll let you know if its causing me any troubles. If not, I'll be sure to send it right back!

hmmm... yeah i have no idea when the fluids in there have been changed... are we talking about trans fluid/oil?

also why would the stops cause the problem if they are farther back then the internal ones?

I would just like to say that my MGW does the same thing. Occasionally on my 2-3 shift, it will only go about 1/2 way in and I have to kind of wait for it to go the rest of the way. Definitely not a bent shift fork, it does it too infrequently... just very annoying. Try taking the shift stops out that may help

I haven't learned much on this subject yet, but no one has mentioned syncros yet. If it is only on one certain shift, it could be his syncros going, no? Please please please correct me if I'm wrong or if I am off topic at all.
