well i just ordered the 12pt 302 set for 50.00 shipped at summit(not too bad and a little better)

and i just ordered a 96 AWD 5.0L Exploder Gasket Set from autozone
http://www.autozone.com/selectedZip...itialvehicleId,3139501/shopping/selectZip.htm

i hope this is ok, i just realized that 96 could have incorporated the gt40 P heads which could mess up the exhaust gaskets correct?

Alright everyone i am piecing together all my stuff for the bolt on of my gt40irons and gt40/explorer intake(still shopping) and 1.7rr's.

I was wondering if the head gasket sets are all the same for the 5.0, cobra, and explorer. Excluding the upper intake gasket which is obviously different.... cause autozone sells a gasket set for
79.00 for the 5.0
88.00 for the 5.0 cobra
and 71.00 for a 96 explorer set..I'm assuming i could use any of the three but the explorer is the cheapest

Also what is a good head bolt set for the 5.0, would any 302 set be ok.....

There is no difference in the exhaust gaskets between the E7, GT-40 and GT-40P heads.

ok well what about the head gasket itself then?
basically will my 96 5.0L felpro kit work fine or will something be missing or extra that i need to ignore or know about so i am not crying in confusion...

JUST PICKED IT UP
HS 8548 PT-14 Head SET
PACKAGE CONTENTS:

1-5511 dis mounting
2-8548 pt-2 head gasket
1-35440 water outlet
2-MB 500029 valve cover( might need to get another set of these to double stack for 1.7rr clearance)
ETC ETC... i think i am good with this set the only worry was i took a guess and ordered the 96 exploder. And not to mention the box says for 97-01 302 5.0L Engine(s)

PSS.
got the upper intake off, radiator out(cleaned and painted had rust and lime corrosion),some engie cleaning, alternator off,fan off, betl off pretty much getting setup for the lower removal, heads, and valve cover....got alot done today could be done by Friday but i dont have my intake yet and i need to figure out some things about using the explorer intake......
I broke some hoses that(cracked and worthless anyways) so yah, 50-75-whp gain here i come.........

That gasket set should work.

If the heads and intake are stock then I would look for the increase to be around 35 HP or so.

The GT-40 heads and intake have a lot of potential but in stock form they're not that much. The 93 Cobra had them both but it wasn't that much faster than a stock 5.0.
