Do you add the compressed volume of a head gasket to the heads combustion chamber size when figure out you compression ratio? I was trying to get as close to 10/1 compression with afr 165 heads and I've come up with this http://www.angelfire.com/fl/procrastination/motor.html

Cylinder Diameter (inches) 4.060
Stroke Length (inches) 3.00 (302)
Number of cylinders 8
Chamber in cc's 58cc head plus 6.78 cc compressed volume on the gasket
Piston flat tops so 0
Gasket Thickness in inches 0.32

Comes out to 9.9
Does this sound about right?

It's the "0" for flat tops that doesn't work. Nearly all flat tops have valve reliefs. My Mahle slugs have 6cc reliefs. But, yes, you must specify compressed volume, or at least compressed gasket thickness, plus piston-to-deck height in order toget an accurate static compression.
