Hi, I have a recently purchased 1970 Mach 1 clone with a rebuilt 351W. It has E-force hi-flow aluminum heads and an FMX auto trans. I have tried to install new headers (Hooker part number 6901) and they will not clear the transmission cross member brace welded to the floors. I have purchased a set of 6208 hooker headers that are supposed to have the larger port size for the exhaust, as well as be longer to clear the undercarriage of the car. Has anyone else gone through this? What was your solution? Thanks.

correct me if i'm wrong but those headers are meant for a 302 so on the 351 block they sit higher, i know whne i put 351 headers on my 302 they sit lower.

They are listed as 260/302/351W headers, but you are probably right. However they will fit a 351W with stock heads.

I went through three sets of non-fitting headers before getting some that do. Go with a set made for your application. Give Ed a call at ford power train. He should have something that fits.
