Hey guys, I have the chance to purchase some headers from a guy that installed them on his '69 351 only to find out they don't fit around his clutch because he has a 3-speed or 4-speed, and I was wondering if they will fit in my car around the big bulky FMX trans I have behind the 351? He says they for sure fit a C-4 but maybe they fit FMX also?? If any of you guys have info on this, it would be greatly appreciated. Please Help!!

P.S. the '+ headers' in my sig. just means im going to add them... that is if these ones fit... lol

I've never seen a problem getting around a bell housing, which is the widest part of the tranny. If you have power steering, you might need a lowering bracket.

If you already have headers, why would you want to go to the hassle of changing? Isn't once enough?

You only need to worry about the PS bracket on long-tubes.

I bought a set of Headmann elites for the 351W swap into a 67. There is plenty of room for any automatic transmision. I know this since I have one of the largest ones around (AOD) and it was not an issue. You'll notice they also have room for a clutch linkage.

So, the headers will definetely clear my FMX tranny, but about the power steering... you say the bracket is possible in my way?? What about the steering unit itself?? Mine is the original power assist not full power steering... and the pump is from an 84 ltd which is what my 351 pi came from with the fmx... any and all info is very important... thanks..

all you need is the bracket that drops the power steering ram. that's the unit that actually delivers the assist to turning the wheels. it just drops one end of it about an inch or so, so the headers can get by. make sure they weld it in, i had mind bolted and it came off. that was bad times

So, all I have to worry about is a bracket on one side of my frame for the power steering unit that drops it about one inch on one side of my car?? that doesn't sound too difficult.. where can I get one of these brackets and can I just fabricate one myself?? How do you install one?

Mustangs Unlimited Part#C5ZZ3A352R $14.95

It just drops the cylinder down a little, but is needed with just about any type of headers you'll be using.
