Headers?? Shorty's or Longtubes

I am getting a pair of headers from my girlfriend for my birthday..I just havent made the decision yet on which ones I want to go with. Is the power really going to be more noticeable if I longtubes instead of shorty's. What are the pros and cons between both of them. What are some good suggestions on brands to buy.

if your gonna get headers, do not get shorties. get longtubes. you will probably pick up about 15-20 more hp with LT's over shorties. They are a biotch to install, but it is supposedly worth it (i havent dont it yet.) If you get longtubes you will have to get a new midpipe, or cut yours up to make it fit. Some good longtubes are slp, bassani, hooker, and kooks. all these except for slp can be left in when changing a clutch. i believe flowtechs can be left in while changing out the clutch too, and are less expensive then the ones i named. if you dont mind taking out the passenger side header then you can go with mac, or bbk or something. get longtubes though. you will not be sorry

Long tubes are the only way to go. Shorties do next to nothing on a NA car. Don't waste your GF's money. As far as good brands to buy it all depends on how much you want to spend. Kooks are widely considered the best but are really expensive. Do some research on them, SLP, BBK, Hooker, and MAC. They all will work fine and are at different price points. Obviously stainless and coated is better than not.

Ok so I have decided to order the Longtubes..I hear Mac are pretty good..were is a good place to get them??

Shortie or LT, it takes just as much time(or laber if your paying someone to do it). Gain from shortie(if any) will be very expensive gain. Unless your worrying about emmission, go with LT. You'll be very happy in the end

Yeah I live in South Dakota were they dont check emissions..so thats not a worry..I only drive my car in the summer...So do I really need the ceramic coating??

YES.

Its not solt that rust headers(they do too. But since your not driving car in winter), but cycle of heating and coolong that header endures does.
Also ceramic coating will help contain heat in header. One of issue some people encounters after LT install is that because it moves O2 senser ferther back, exhaust gasses would cool down enough to trip check engine linght. Ceramic coating would help keep the exhaust heat contained so that you have less chance of this happening

Ok then Mac Ceramic Coated Longtubes it is..Thanks for all the help..and oh yeah is 300 dollars a good price for install?? Bc my buddy works at a shop in town were i live and he said thats what he will do if for..
..

i don't know if $300 is good price or not. I installed one myself. Its time consuming, but not technically challeging. So u wanna ask others who had some shop done it for them..

It should take somewhere between 8-10 hrs to do. So if you are paying to have it done I would say yeah that is a good price. You won't find labor rates like that too many places.
