Yesterday was tuning my car/taking a friend out in it. After I got on it, then got on the freeway, a steady trickle of hot coolant was coming out from under the glovebox. Looks like the leak came from the box, as I checked the hoses and they were fine.

Friends' dad said it is probably the heater core going. SOund right? Anything else it could be? Anything else I should do in order to diagnose?

Thanks

Yes, it sounds exactly like the heater core. There is an old thread (http://forums.stangnet.com/722911-coolant-leak-under-glove-box.html) with some further discussion.

Well, if I was going to mail-order one, I'd get it from Glazier's, but it should be available locally. While you have the heater out, be sure to install a replacement kit for all the foam seals.

Good luck getting the glycol out of the carpet and padding. I recommend a lot of water, a shop vac™, and leaving it out in the sun with the carpet rolled back to allow the padding and carpet to dry.

How much should i expect to spend? And will local places have these foam seals?

Thanks

About $30 for the core, and $10 for the seals. The seals will probably have to come from a Mustang specialist, they are not the sort of thing you'll find at NAPA.

the post linked earlier also recommends checkign the 'restrictor' on the intake (where the hose plugs in), because its likely worn out and no longer doing much in the way of restricting.

will NPD have one of those (they have the heater cores, foam seals)? What other names might it be listed under (i can find 'resistor'.. but not 'restrictor')?

Thanks again
