heater core progress update

well about a week ago i found out that i needed to replace my heater core.... well with all the stuff i have to pull out of my car i might as well pull everything out even the carpet and vaccum and clean everything that i can get to when the car is assembled. im also going to shampoo the hell out of my carpet with my steam cleaner......with the dash out im going to install all my autometer guages....

when i was taking apart my dash today damn.......i found some broken plastic pieces.....this sux!!! the main one that is broken is one of the mounting points for the guage surround torx up near the windshield......what should i do???

i also wanna get rid of all of my rattles in my car i hear when i go over bumps......what ya think about this???
.....use felt washers in between two pieces of plastic, and maybe using velcro on long sections where there is plastic to plastic or metal to plastic contact....

anyone else have any ideas?????

i would use carbon washers......i use them at work for drain plugs.............dont you just hate the fact that you cant take something apart on the dash without finding/breaking something??? be carefull for the elec gremlins that love to come out.

Rattles are mostly caused by chassis flex. Subframe connectors, not felt washers should fix that. I just did a heater core change recently without cutting the box. I wrote a pretty good tech article on it with tons of pictures if you are interested
