So i was driving in the rain and i thought i would ahve a little fun in a schools parking lot and kicked the back end out and the car died. I stopped immediately and saw smoke. I looked under the hood and the spark control modulator was on fire. I threw a pepsi on it followed by water and put it out. I later found the batterie moved over and touched the power steering line and welded itslef together. The car stayed on like normal except the engine wasnt running even without the key until i separte the two. So i replaced the modulator and found the pigtail to be burnt. I tracked one down and spliced it in. My dad later check who is a electrical engineer and did a good job on it. However the car will still not start. The starter solenoid clicks but thats it. No crank and we tryed to push start her and it didnt work. I need to get her fixed. I go to school accross the street and its still sitting there. I need to get her fixed. Does anyone have ideas?

What is a spark modulator? The closest thing that makes sense is the TFI (ignition) module. I wanted to ensure you were not talking about the coil though. Knowing which one you had issue with will help.

Check the battery and all cables to see if anything was damaged during the massive short to ground. You need the car to crank before you can test for spark, injector pulsing, etc.

If you have to, use a jumper battery and jumper cables (use jumper cables in parallel with existing cables to find a deficient cable. When a given cable is paralleled and the car cranks, you have found a deficient cable. Your Dad will understand the premise if it's confusing).

Good luck.

You need to go back over the battery (measuring potential is not the same as measuring the current) and it's connections and cables. Also check the motor ground. These are the items which can keep the car from cranking.

Good luck.

I tryed cranking the car without the battery in the equation using a friends car and jumper cables. i also tryed to jump it twice with the battery and jumper cables. Were is the engine group located. ive only had the car for a few weeks so im still familiarizing myself with it.
