Hello all! I am the proud owner of a brank spanking new 06 GT and i'm wondering where to start with soem mods. I had a 00 Gt which had quite a bit of work done to her but it seems times are a changing. So, for thoes of you who have had their stangs more than a week and could lead me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate the advice. Thanks in advance, as always you guys rock!

Performance Mods.
1-Cold Air intake
2-Sct X-Cal 2
3-3:73 or 4:10 gears [only ford gears]
3-Under drive pulleys
4- Exhaust system & long tube headers

I also have the Eibach Sportline kit with Tokico D-Spec 16 way adjustable shocks and struts

can we get some pics of that new brute?

i love new GT's. now i need mine dangit!

since this is tech, try tires, buddy of mine got better tires on his 05 GT convert, and he says it makes a huge difference.

I did notice that the TB has that stupid post in it. As far as a CIA whats good these days? I had a Mac CIA on my 00 but it looks like there are better one out there. And wtf is with this axel back stuff, i feel like i'm starting form sctratcha again lol

What post? The spring breaking one?

Axel back = mufflers & tips (I think:D ). I can tell you, the mid pipe makes a whole world of difference!

C&L Cold Air Intake puts the competition to shame in the engine dressup department. Please don't get me started with the JLT being cool to the touch crap. My numbers at the track speak for themselves.

Tuner SCT XCal-II or DIablosport Predator. I bought my Predator before the Xcal-II came out and I don't regret it.

Diablosport put's their updates on their website so you can download them yourself. Also the CAI tunes for the C&L and Steeda .

More tuners use SCT so it may be a better option depending on which shop will be tuning your car.

Steeda Underdrive Pulleys. Don't skimp on quality. I saw better than 1/10th of a second difference with the pulleys.

Longtube Headers and mid-pipe. Go with an H-Pipe if you want to keep it sounding like a real stang. Go with an X-Pipe if you want it to sound more european. As for the headers JBA, Kooks, or Stainless Works.

Longtube headers are a b!tc* to put in. At least a 6 hour install.

I went with the JBA Longtubes with the Catted H-Pipe and left the stock mufflers. The car sounds mean when you step on it.

Axlebacks at best give you 5HP. Put them on if you want.

4.10 gears or higher. Even though I haven't done mine yet out of everyone I know who has done them none of them thinks they went too tall. Some even wish they went with 4.30's

Throttlebody forget it. I was speaking with Jim Jr. of JDM Engineering at the Fun Ford Weekend in Epping NH. this August and I was told that the stock throttlebody is good for up to 400hp

Perhaps it is, but it doesn't change the fact that bigger tb = more air in, more quickly.

There are plenty of threads in here about very satisfied customers who've replaced their tb's (ignore the unlucky guys who over-tightened their spring), and I can assure you that whether or not it contributes massively to any hp increase, the car definately gets up and goes appreciably quicker. This aint an opinion, I've got it on my car and know.

The limitation is to how much air the head can flow. If you are using a blower at 8 psi you are moving roughly 1.5 times the air your stock motor was originally moving.

Don't get me wrong it doesn't hurt but that money can go elsewhere where it can make bigger improvements. such as longtube headers. or a port and polish

Man i forgot how much info you guys have. on my 00 GT i threw on a 70mm TB (along with a lot of other stuff) and it did help with rpm hang ect. When i first poped the hood i saw the TB and thought to myself...self, that has got to go and get a oval TB. but after a few days of looking at the threads i discovered i was in a whole new world compared to what i was used to. Thanks for all the advice.....let the bank account be empty and the hp grow

Ifs its an auto go for a high speed stall,it can add over a half a second in 1/4 miles times!! Also if its an auto 430's would be my choice of gear, yes Ford makes 430's.And exhaust work with a bigger throttle body..And K&N just released a CAI and filter that gives you 9HP and 6lbs. of torque!!With those mods your stang will be "quite" a bit faster:nice:

Damn drive it stock for a few. You might need warranty work  Hope not but....... enjoy.

BTW stay away from the TB and cold air stuff.

Price+Performance. Little 5hp gains for $200 sheesh

Can you explain why he should stay away from the cold air stuff I gained 30 H.P from a CAI and tuner dyno proven and I have not had any warranty issues yet and the Spanish oak processor has been accessed three times by the dealer for warranty work.

Agreed! The CAI and tuner combo will give you more HP for your dollars spent than any other combo out there! I have been to the dealer several times since the mods and have had no issues with them what so ever.
