Yesterday as i pushed the A/c button, no cold air. It was working fine the day before. As i hit the button again, I heard a bang like a loose part had fallen off. I pulled over, raised the hood & found the clutch disc laying between the radiator & sway bar. The shaft broke & the splines are twisted. Do I need a new compressor or can the shaft be replaced? If I need a new one, wheres an inexpensive place to get one? Autozone doesn't have anything this new. Figures the warranty is expired.

If the shaft broke, you'll more than likely need a new compressor. There really is no such thing as a cheap compressor either, you're probably gonna wind up going with Ford.

Cheapest rout would be to get an A/C delete pully.
But it would suck not having A/C this summer.

Just wondering if this is a common problem. Living in the North East, It probably only got used 50 times. Strange thing was the break was clean but not shiny like a fresh break

Lack of usage was probably a contributing factor to it seizing, but even that's a stretch. I'd wonder if it had a low oil charge from the beginning.
