First off, I know this is stangnet.com but all 5.0 tech forums seemed to be based on mustangs so oh well. I've recently started swapping a 1989ish 5.0 HO from a thunderbird into my 65 falcon and right now i'm under the assumption that every part is interchangable beetween the mustang 5.0 and the t-bird 5.0 which is in my falcon and has all the room for clearance in the world, and there is no difference in what parts fit. is that right??

also, my plan for this engine is cobra intake, underdrive pulleys, gt40 swirl heads, 70 mm throttle body (not sure on size yet, this is just a guess), bigger injectors, cam. roughly in that order, probably spread out over a year or two. i'm a machinist not a doctor so all this definately isnt going to be showing up at my door at once. is there anything i'm missing or other parts that are better for the money? i'm fairly new to all of this EFI bussiness. thanks for the help.

unless you are set on the turbo swirls I'd suggest TFS /edelbrocks/Afrs' instead of the turbo swirls. Generally b/c the other heads will offer more bang for the buck than the turbo swirls. Everything else seems good but the edelbrock performer may be a better intake just b/c of flow balance issues.

The only thing right off the top i would say you may have fitment issues with is possibly headers (assuming you are trying to use late model headers).

I would suggest staying carbed over EFi unless you have your heart set on it considering it will be ALOT cheaper in the long haul.

Any other questions post away!

Pretty much everything will swap over, just watch the MAF - TB pipe clearance on the shock towers and the style water pump you use to make sure it exits towards your radiator. I used the '68 front dress on my ranch just to keep it simple. Wiring is simple, the fuel lines are a pain to route and the fuel pump s going to be tricky on the falcon (keeping the lines outside the trunk). On the ranch I just zip screwed a section of the stang tank with the pump onto the top of the ranch tank with some gas tank repair goop for a gasket. Been working well since '95.

thanks for the help guys, after looking into it more i think i'll go with the edelbrock intake and heads. i'll keep all that in mind ranchero5.0. I'm also getting the kit from painless wiring to hook it up. that way it'll be a lot less work and look a little better.
