HELP! All of sudden car is making deafening squeek from under the hood!

Well I just got back from making a Wawa run with my roommate (I let him drive and he we messing around, I didnt mind) and as soon as we got back, I noticed that the car now makes a squeel at is loud as hell. It seems like when you rev it up, the thing that is making the sound is going to fast, the sound just fades away. I just grabbed a flashlight and it seems like its coming from the area of the idle pulley, waterpump and distributor. Does anyone know what it could be? Im 100 miles away from home at school, should I be worried about driving home?

spray some belt dressing on it. then drive it around. then if that doesnt work, put your car up on blocks and look behind the balancer to see if any rubber is sticking out.

Could it be the belt even if the belt is less than 6 months old. Also, it doesn't even sound like a belt, it seems way to loud to be a belt.

I have seen smog pumps seize up before, try looking there too.

Actually I deleted mine with an ASP kit. I just checked it out, and it is still making the sound, but not as loud.

Water pump bearings can seize also, is it leaking out of the hole in the top?

I didn't see any leaking at all actually, I remember when my factory waterpump went, the coolant comes out really quick.

The idler pulley could have a bad bearing other than that I can't think of anything else right off the bat.

Thats what I was thinking, but its weird that it happened all at once . Maybe Ill be lucky and it will mysteriously vanish tomorrow like it never happened. Not with my luck though . Anyone else ever hear of a pulley's bearing all of a sudden going?
