Just bought an 02 GT. I was wanting some input on Off road H-pipes. Best bang for the buck.

Lack of backpressure? I most def noticed a lack of low end torque. But after a week or so of driving, it feels normal.

MRT, or Prochamber.

I felt no loss of low end grunt with my x-pipe. in fact I notice a decrease in traction from a first gear roll. If I was losing torque I would have had better traction.

I would look at the MRT h-pipe as it is stainless but it is also overpriced.

I got my vrs x-pipe for $250 shipped and it is stainless. this is the best deal IMO. it is why I chose it. any 2 1/2 mandrel midpipe is going to give you good sound and power.

there are quite a few alumized h-pipes I just don't understand replacing stainless parts with alumized. it is like downgrading your car.

It's the butt meter.

I have yet to see a dyno sheet that shows a loss of torque after an O/R midpipe swap. All of them show a small increase below 3,000 and a large increase above 3,000. That gives the illusion that you lost some down low.

Yes I made that statement from the SOTP feeling, but I spend most of my time under 3000. It felt like I was starting in 2nd gear or something, it was just really slow off the line. Sound and power up top more than makes up for it though

Also, the exhaust is louder. What you're normally used to hearing at 2500 RPM, you now hear at 1500 RPM. So you're ears tell you you are at 2500 but you're really at 1500. Your butt meter is expecting the pull of 2500 but it's only feeling 1500.

I thought just like you also. My SOTP meter told me that after I installed my O/R H-pipe I gained a little down low and up top but this dyno graph would say otherwise. This dyno graph is from an 01 cobra so its possible the GT's are different and do not lose any low end torque but from this dyno graph of the cobra you can see that down low the stock H-pipe is giving the most torque.
