Z20_What has the right idea here.

There "should" be several catagories of FAQs and they "should" be simple and EASILY accessable without having to search website for HOURS and HOURS on end for this, that and the other!

How bout FAQs like....

1) BIGGEST BAND FOR your BUCK! (which mods yield the highest performance increases for the least amount of money/work listed from lowest to highest.

This catagory "should" be broken down like Z20_What wrote.

It "should" also be broken down to particular engines.

2) Mechanical "HOW TOs"

Like tranny swaps, header installs, brake upgrades, gear installs, SD-->>MAF conversions etc...

3) TECH info and Comparisons...

Like choosing performance parts such as cams, heads, torque convertors etc....

4) Power Adder Parts Tech and Comparisions...

Which Supercharger, Turbo or Nitros kit is right for my application ??

BTW, Summit Racing has a pretty decent version of what I've described here -->> http://www.streetandstripmotorsports.com/professor_overdrive/prof_od.asp

Anyone have any decent links to the things I suggested ??

Let's get this project moving along!!

I just discovered a MAJOR flaw in the SEARCH function!

It will NOT allow a user to search for items UNDER (4) Letters!!

This means a user can NOT do a Search on items such as....

CAM, TPS, NOS, AOD, MAF, MAS, FAQ, AC, O2, or anyother things like Manufactures with (3) initials... BBK etc....

Can someone look into this and see if the Search option can be reconfigured to allow these types of Searchs ?? It "may" cut down out the FAQ annoying posts!

I think it's VERY important to always keep in mind, that even YOU :worship: where once a NEWBIE and didn't know EVERYTHING there was about cars!

well, i'm a newbie here and to all cars basically, how about everyone just start providing information and then the moderator compile it into a sticky. Instead of everyone giving ideas on what to put in a F.A.Q. how about they just put what they know, whatever links they have that includes the question, ans, what it will do ( purpose for the mod ) etc.... This is in no way telling anyone how to run things here but, i've just seen alot of F.A.Q.'s composed on sites and i just want to put my .02 cents in ( seeing as how the F.A.Q. provided here will greatly increase my already limited knowledge on cars/domestics )

heres a link to one of the F.A.Q.'s i've seen created that really put the F.A.Q. in the phrase ( so to speak )

On this site i found the information provided extremely helpful and avoided future questions on a subject that was beat to death. This can be used as a somewhat of a idea " how to " for this forums F.A.Q. well, thats my take on it.

well, i'm a newbie here and to all cars basically, how about everyone just start providing information and then the moderator compile it into a sticky ( weeding out useless or repeated information ). I see everyone giving ideas on what to put in a F.A.Q. how about they just put what they know, whatever links they have that includes the question, ans, what it will do ( purpose for the mod ) etc. This is in no way telling anyone how to run things here but, i've just seen alot of F.A.Q.'s composed on sites and i just want to put my .02 cents in to help make this forums Q&A a promising one ( seeing as how the F.A.Q. provided here will greatly increase my already limited knowledge on cars/domestics ).

heres a couple of links to some of the F.A.Q.'s i've seen created that really put the F.A.Q. in the phrase ( so to speak )

Good Link

On this site i found the information provided extremely helpful, compiled exceptionally and avoided future questions on a subject that was beat to death ( pretty much the point of F.A.Q.'s ). This can be used as a somewhat of a idea " how to " for this forums F.A.Q., mixing and matching things that you like from it etc.

I remembered this link and wanted to include it for ideas..

Another good link

THANKS FOR YOUR TIME !

p.s. : i suck at this editing thing, so can a moderator chop off that last thing i posted, i tried to delete it but i guess thats power only the moderators have...anyway..THANKS AGAIN

You might want to check out www.therangerstation.com . There technical information section and forum format is one of the best I've seen. The technical section section answers many FAQ's without even going to the forums. And the forum format makes searching much easier (If I have a wheel/tire question I only search the wheel/tire forum, not the forums as a whole). Just a suggestion.

Ok I've just realized in the FAQ we need some info on Lowering springs and what you need to install with them (caster/camber kits, offset steering rack bushings, spring isolators, bump steer kits, etc.) I am currently trying to find out if I really need all of this stuff with new springs, and I've also noticed alot of others asking about this same subject. I thought it would be inexpensive, but then add on caster camber kit for $150 and all those little bushings and stuff and it adds up!

Well, I'm a newbie here, but I've been a member of the North American Subaru Impreza Owners Club (www.nasioc.com). ALot of stuff posted in the tech forums are entirely off topic, so there should be an off topic forum. There should also be sub-categories under the different years such as Suspension, brakes and tires; N/A; FI; Newbies and FAQs, Car Gallery, etc..

There are TALK specific sections under each area ie 5.0 tech and there is a 5.0 TALK forum to.... To have it so there would be specific to suspension then tires etc.... That would not work nicely at all.. Who wants to go to each specific forum when they are just perusing? When I go into 5.0 tech forums I hardly am posting questions but am posting replies to peoples questions b/c they are all out there and I can see what I might know right off the bat.

how many posts have you seen that started out with"what belt size if....?"
run a piece of string around all the accessories youll be using. make sure you run the string the correct way. when you get back to where you started, cut the string where it meets the beginning of itself. make sure to use the belt tensioner a little when doing this. after youve cut the string, measure it and thats what size belt you need. make sure you tell them the right rib count. its usually 6.
