ive got sparkto the plugs hold 40psi fuel pressure fuel gettin to plugs tries to start but wont when it does it backfires through th tb then sometimes when stop cranking it rotates backwards put in a new timing chain set to try nd fix but didnt

yes its a 5.0 i sold the 4.6 rx7 timing gears are lined perfect and dis is on #1

Is it on #1 cylinder of the compression stroke? It is so easy to get these things 180 degrees out. I would try rotating 180 degrees.

just ran out and fliped dis 180 justcranks turned it back and cranks let off key it backfires through tb and tries to run backwards

OK what firing order did you wire it for? Is there a possibility you wired like a standard 302 and not a 302 H.O.?

your timing could also be retarded! Do you have a rocker adjusted to tight where it might not be letting the valve close all the way?

im assuming its fuel injected since its backfiring throught the throttle body.......what distributor do u have? New wires? cap?rotor?

lol good catch. I just finished working 4 12 hr graveyards. I'm a little slow on the uptake.

its a 88 tbird it ran god but had a pulsing idle so i did a basictune up and cleaned the iac when started ther was banging sound so we shut it off not to start again lenty of fireand gas but no start

well you stated you changed the timing chain. Was it skipping teeth? Why did you change it?

i changed it because after the tune up when it wound not start and al this happened i thought it had jump time but after dissassembly it had not and since it was apart anyway i replaced it
