Help..Having Gasoline Problems..I think

Recently my car has been acting funny (its an 01 GT Automatic)..In the morning when I leave for the first 5 minutes everytime I a stop (whether a stop sign or red light) when I accelerate to take off the car does the horsey jump like its going to turn off. It didn't bother me much but today it turned off at a stop sign, i had to give it alot of gas (i was pressing the accelerator pedal for a good 2 minutes before it started)

anyone know what's failing?

sounds like a problem im having right now too, i think its a fuel pump issue, not enough fuel getting to engine and it shuts off when ur not on the gas

Sounds like a Idle Air Control problem. Try cleaning the valve they say you aren't supposed to clean. Remove it from the throttle body and hold it so the cleaner doesn't get in the electrical portion. I use gummout spray carb cleaner then follow up with WD40.

You should not have to press the accelerator to start the engine. If anything that will lean it out and make it harder to start.

i replaced it and still doing the same thing it starting to get annoying..

I drive, come to stop, then accelarate to drive one and the car turns off, turn it back on while holding down the gas pedal and rev the engine high so it doesn't turn off

Have you ruled out the fuel filter yet, if not not, replace it.

i replace that 5k miles ago...i guess next would be the fuel pump.....i remember reading about adjusting the TPS, could that help, if so is there a guide for that

I had this very same problem a few months back. I suspected that it was stemming from the IAC or the TPS. I started the cheapest way possible be adjusting the parameters that were within my control. First, I loosened the two screws that hold the TPS and twisted the TPS slightly (whatever the slop in the screw holes allow). I tightened the screws back down and took it for a test drive to no prevail. Next I adjusted the throttle blade stop using the allen set screw on the throttle body. This can be a bit "touchy" so I would recommend doing this with the motor running so the you can audibly monitor the RPM of the engine and make sure that you do not adjust the screw too far. This was the solution to my problem although it did take a bit of trial and error and a few test drives. This adjustment can also leave the RPMs hanging when you depress the clutch and coast to a stop. If that happens, start backing off the set screw 1/4 to 1/2 turn at a time.

no luck....if it reeks gasoline when the car turns off and im trying to turn it on what does it mean..ive notice that everytime it dies and im giving it gas to turn it on it smells like gasoline, alot, like its coming from the exhaust

DO NOT drive that car any more! You could seriously hurt yourself or others....all it takes is one small spark and BOOM. Seriously, I would just take it to a mechanic. You might have a leaky fuel injector or something.

You might want to check all of your injector conectors and COP conectors.
While your doing that change your spark plugs or at least check to see
if one could be backing out.

Start simple...check the COPS like suggested. Check fuel pressure also. If the problem is fuel pump related you should be able to determine that by checking the pressure. Have you had any charging issues? If the car is only doing it the first 5 minutes it could be low battery or alternator output. That will mess with the injector output causing the issues you describe.
