Looks right but not having the clip on the new cable is no a big deal imo. Actually simplifies it. I have found mine unattached before. I've driven it without it clipped. I think it's more for keeping a loose cable in place. Keep it adjusted and the clip is useless.
My bracket is made of aluminum, your looks like steel.Since I don't think the clip does much if your adjusted correctly. I wouldn't worry about a lip. I would just notch the steel pipe and call it a day. I am probably wrong but I would think it will last a long time before working into the plastic.
My plastic teeth are mangled too. My kid was in the car pushing the clutch after installing it while I adjusted it. At the time I had not cut the spring in half on the transmission end. He forced the pedal to the floor and it mangled them. Took me a minute to figure out what was wrong. Don't force the pedal. If its too tight cut the spring down.
