Guys and gals, a friend of mine at work sent me some pics of his "88" GT. He told me about the car a few months ago and I've been on him to take some pics. He wants me to help him get it started as well since it's not been started in 2+ years. Anyway, I just got the pics from him and I'm confused as heck. Here's what I have problems with: quarter windows are pre-87, this car appears to have mas-air, and the brake fluid resovoir is metal (shouldn't it be clear plastic?). The A/C lines are gone, so I'm thinking it could be from any year FI car. Check it out and give me your opinions. 2 clues that might help you: He is originally from California and if you can't tell, it's a T-top car.

89 Speedo reads 140. I bet its an 88 but someone put the older quarters and a MAF on it.

Looks like alot of mold on the floor. Cars only saving grace is its a T-top

I got the skinny from him on this after I pointed out all that seemed wrong. It's an '84 GT that got frankensteined using an '89 donor car. Mystery solved. I pointed out that he better get it covered at the very least. Found out the toggle switch by the driver's knee is a kill switch he wired up. I would have hidden that better, but that's just me.

 The stering whell was blocking it so I thought it had an 85 MPH speedo. Had I of seen that then I coulda seen it was an 89 dash. That was the only year for 140 mph speedo and the idiot lights on the lower right spot by the key

That switch bothered me from the first time I saw this thread. When I cruise my leg rests right there, i would have to rip that switch out first thing.
Bet the floors are rusted to crap :(
