I recently did a bunch of mods to my 94 vert. Added early 351 heads w/ 2.02 in, 1.6 ex fully ported, shorty headers , Mac x pipe, smog pump deleted,F 303 cam, Harland roller rockers ,Typhoon intake, 65 mm throttle body, 24 lb injectors.
When I first started the car in barley ran, I took the car to Brenspeed ( a Mustang shop in Indiana) he reprogrammed the computer and the car runs like a scalded dog now, the only problem is that the check engine light comes on and makes the car idle at 2000 rpm, when you come to a complete stop the car comes back to a normal idle. The minute you start to move again the car high idles until you come to a complete stop. I'm going to unplug the speedo today to see what that wil do. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Thx,

ok, I unpugged the speedo and engine idles normal. The minute I plug it back in and drive over 10 mph the motor goes to high idle ( 2000 rpm), and doesn't come back to normal idle until you come to complete stop.anyone else have this problem with the mods I've done?

if they burned a chip with out dynoing the car there is no way of knowing if your A/F ratio is good, your stock MAF is calibrated for 19lb injecters not 24lb this could cause havic with your car

Brenspeed reprogrammed the comp. for the 24 lb inj., I'm not up on this computer stough,. all I know is that the car barely ran when I added all the mods and when I got it back it ran like a scared cat, the only this is that when the car goes over 10 mph, it goes to high idle ( 2000 rpm) I unplugged the speedo and car idles like it supposed to, I haven't had a chance to pull codes yet, I hope to late today after little ones b-day party. with the chip that I have it has several settings ( on a switch mounted in glove box) 1 setting is for advanced timing through whole rpm range, 2 is like a vallet mode ( rpm's limited to 4000 ) 3 stock computer settings only calibrated for 24 lb inj. 4. is computer set back to original settings

The 94-95 computer can not be reprogramed if it could u would not need the chip, make sure this guy is good with 94-95 stangs, he might be a good mechanic but these years need someone that knows and has experience with those 2 years

Guys I would like to thank you for all the input, I FOUND THE PROBLEM!! The TPS was a little off, don't know if it was my meter or what, but when I loosened the screws, I backed the idle down to 850 rpm and snugged them back up, low and behold the cel came off and it drives great now. I took it to Auto Zone to pull the codes and the lady said her comp wouldn't pull the codes off of it and she also told me my motor was shot because it loped too much. LMFAO!!! I just shook my head and said thanks anyway, knew better than to take my car there..

Thanks again!!!

ps : with the TPS adjusted right it actually pulls harder through midrange

Did they dyno the car when they did the chip and as far as i know nothing can be done with the 94 and 95 computers.

I'm not trying to be a wise guy or anything and I'm not in any way, shape, or form saying you don't know what your talking about, however.................

Since this is a public forum where thousands of peeps read these posts and believe it or not, some of em come on here to try and learn a thing or two from all of us guys that have been around for a while, its important and responsible to be specific about what we post so we don't mislead the noobies.

I think what you are trying to say is the 94-95 pcm can't be flashed like some of the later pcm's can.

The 94-95 pcm can have its values manipulated with a chip or a tuning device such as PMS, EEC Tuner, Tweecer, etc.

I just wanted to make sure that fact was crystal clear.

im with him i dont think there is anything you can do to the 94-95 computer b/c it doesn't have flash memory like obd2 cars.

That is true about our pcm's not having flash memory but........................

It makes no difference because anything you want to do with it can be done with a chip or tuning interface like PMS, Tweecer, etc.
