As of now i have a edelbrock 650 manual choke, manual secondary carb. And its old, i mean OLD and i am about to buy a new one, so what would be a good carb? and what cfm? I was looking at the edelbrock AVS carb, has anybody tried this thing yet? I am also not opposed to switching to a holley or something, the other carb im looking at is the speed demon (barry grant) with the "idle ease" feature, i would go with the no choke mechanical secondary carb from BG, would 750 cfm be too much carb for this motor? Give me some good and bad points of edelbrocks and holley's. :spot:

What do you want out of this motor. In my experences, and Edelbrock has always been a dead reliable carb, making it perfect for a daily driver. They do also get good performance. If you want more of a strip built car, then I would suggest the BG carb. 750 sounds a little large for a 302, although you have in your sign that you plan on a nice cam. What kind of cam do you have in mind?

Well my car is a daily driver (to work and school) and possibly some track/street fun on the weekend. Im definitly leaning torweds the AVS carb, im just not sure on how to tune this thing, and its a new produst and so i wonder if its a good choice? so i guess the edelbrock would be more practical?

How much time you got? If you want this AVS carb, wait around for a while until it has time to be used more often to hear the pros and cons about it. But other wise these guys are right, a Holley can give you a good street/strip application with a better cam. But if it is mostly a daily driver, then edelbrock makes a reliable, easy to tune carb for you. Like selecting cams, it all depends on application.
