Help me decide: 302 based stroker or 351?

My opinion, go with a 69 block 351. Have it bored out to 357 and install good forged internals. With a set of decent heads(like AFR 185's), 8.5-9.0:1 compression, and all the boost the S trim can put out you should be in 600rwhp range. You should be able to do that relatively cheap compared to a R302 or Dart block. I don't think the S trim will make much more power than that, the most I've seen from one is 650rwhp with the setup I listed above except with a Dart 347.

Hey, 600 HP would be fine by me! It would be nice to run with the GT500s. I'm just worried about having to convert an old block like that to a roller block.

sorry to get off topic

low5-0 who did you get your 418w internals kit from

coasthigh.com says that there are clearance issues with the 69 engine block deck height

i was just wondering cause i'm lookin into the 351w stroker

i think just being able to say your car has over 400 cubes is enough to go with 351w (the power and torque is just icing on the cake)

Just spend the $400 for retro fit lifters. That's actually one of the lower priced engine parts you need when you get into high HP territory.

sn-95matt5-0, I bought it as an assembled short block. The pistons are Probe, and AFIK the kit came from CHP.
