Help me decide...

In the new issue of MMFF there is a 03/04 Mach (4V) with a built Motor, DS1C pushing 16lbs, and NOS...it made 590+/- rwhp.

My GT (2V) with a built motor and a V2SQ pushing 12-14lbs makes 513rwhp.

ok...first off...it is the new 5.0 mag. second..it was 599.29 rwhp after .020 bore, 8.5:1 cr, forged internals, fr500 heads (stock valve size), stock mach cams, ported intake and D-1SC intercooled pushing 22psi thru an AODE (2800 stall) W/O the nitrous turned on and ran 10.84 at 132 w/315 DR. Sounds great to me.

Now, I am not knocking your car by any means and I bow :hail2: to what you have done to your car. I just wanted to get the facts straight.

that being said, I have a 2v and it is showing wear in all areas and I dont want to put the money into it to get it right/fixed up. I have always wanted a DOHC since my buddy had his 96 cobra with 8 psi Vortech making 425 rwhp with an extremely safe tune. so when you take the fact that this car is needing everything from brakes to suspension to engine to paint/bodywork to a little interior work and add my want for a DOHC to the mix...it is just cheaper to trade this one in and buy what I want.

Crzyhrse: thank you for the info. I have been trying to find where I read the diff in the engine (heads are different I believe) but I cant find it anywhere. I will keep looking. It might have been on Mach1registry site.

crap...the salesman had the other dealer do a walk around with a list of questions from me and every thing was great (no burns, tears, dents, new tires) except couple marks on front from road crap and inside smells like smoke!!! I'm fine with a couple road rash spots on front but the smoke could be the deal breaker. But then again I am depending on someone else's nose and it might be hardly noticiable and nothing a little fabreeze wont kill. HELP!!! I dont know what to do.

Yep, same 3650. That sucks it smells like smoke, but as long as no burn holes, I would think the smell will eventually air out, or find something to mask it for awhile. What color and what price? Hopefully under $20K.

that is cool about the shift because I do believe I still have the original shifter so I can swap my MGW shifter over.

as for the car...here it is:

I really wish I had not heard the smoke issue. I believe that I can rid the smell unless the person smoked with the windows closed. That would put the smell in the coils of heater and AC in which you can only clean by replacement. And the only way I check the smell is to pay $200 and wait a few days for the car to arrive.

But that is ok...I started looking else where and found another one where my parents live and they have bought a lot of cars from them in the past. So my mom is going to go there this morning to look at it and take pics for me. It pretty much the same price and has only 23k miles.

pics of the different one that I have found...

my mom went and took the pics and got a ride in it. Why do I value my mom's opinion on this...she has had a crap load of classic stangs and even went to the drag strip when I raced my 90 and helped pull seats and tools out to help cut times...lol

look at the pics and tell me what you think....

it is 20k with 23k miles and has not even been cleaned up yet. The water is from the rain that fell right before she got there. It even still has the original Eagles on it. lol

I'd say you could talk them down lower, but prices do vary per geographical location. It looks SHARP. Very clean looking, especially the engine bay! The miles are low. If you like it, I would say to go for it! Also, I am not surprised the Eagles are still on it. I've got 27,400 miles on my car, with the stock Eagles (there is plenty of tread left). It's nice to know that the Mach wasn't abused though!

Matt

I am talking with the dealer so we shall see how it goes. Problem is that it is 3.5 hours away and I cant get down there until next Saturday and now they say they dont want to hold it for me even with a deposit like they said they would. :bang: :bang:

well, I did it!!! only thing that went wrong is that it is an 03 not an 04. :nonono: no biggie. But the only question is why didnt anyone ever tell me that Mach's have TORQUE?!?!?! oh hell yeah!!! :hail2: :hail2:

This thing destroys the 315's like it is nothing!! anyway, thank you for all the advice on here and as you can tell...I love my Mach.

Mach does this --> :chair: to my old 02 Gt :owned:
