first things first, iread on one of these forums last week that i had something hooked up wrong and it was making the car run lean.i had a breather filter on my valve cover instead of the little black hose from the oil spout to the intake tube.so i pulled the filter and hooked evrything back up the way it is supposed to be.started the car and it idled and ran fine.today i go to drive it to work and it is surging and dieing when i tried to start it,would not idle at all.im about done with this P.O.S. car.another problem i keep having is the pcv and that little rubber grommet keep blowing out of the hole in the back of the intake.how the hell do i stop it from doing this?cmon guys point me in the right direction cuz a 96-98 cobra is looking and sounding very good at this point.summers over and i never got to run the car down the track once cuz if it wasnt one thing it was another.

Get a MOTORCRAFT PCV valve & grommet! I've heard many situation like this ..... all because the cheaper parts are not working. Wipe all the oil out of there & install the new ones.

Other than that ..... on to your idle issue. Here's some "not so time-consuming" ideas.

1.) Clean your MAF with alcohol & a q-tip.

2.) Clean the IAT sensor the same way.

3.) Take your IAC vlave off. Clean it thoroughly with TB cleaner.

4.) Check your voltage at the TPS.

5.) Pull codes.

Hope this helps & good luck.

And besides that....these are 10-11 year old cars. Problems are going to keep coming. The good thing is that most of the time its a fairly simple fix. Im not sure selling this car and buying another car that is only 1-3 years younger would solve anything.

All of us go through this...its the nature of the beast. Just try one thing at a time...you'll find the fix.

Advanced, O'Reilly's, AutoZone. and the such will do a free scan for you. If they say they can't .... tell them they are retards & ask to see their manager. They WILL do it. I've only had a problem once. I just talked to another employee & got it done.

Also, I'm pretty sure you can do it with just a paper clip or something. Do a search .... I think JT says you can do that.

A haynes manual can walk you through it. All you need is a paperclip.

Here is a code listing for our cars. All codes are 3 digit for our cars.
