Help Me HISSIN!! +other cooling gurus

The reason that we don't have issues with our cooling setup is because Arizona is typically 30 degrees (F)hotter than the temps you and I see. In fact, the dictionary could use Arizona as the definition of the word HOT.

I know nothing of cooling a car in those temperatures. I can imagine that it is very hard to pull hot air into a hot radiator and expect much of a drop in the coolant temperatures. Thus the need to rely on high CFM fans to pull massive amounts of air through the radiators to help pull heat off of the fins.

This is a very salient point that not many get (it's what I tried to convey, albeit poorly, above - the part about it feeling as though it's exponentially harder on the system to cool from 105*F+).

I like to joke that Phoenix are Tucson are 1/4 mile from the sun (well, that's how it feels to someone from Alaska). :barf:

We used to rent out a house in Apache Junction so I know a little about the heat, but I never ventured out there in the summer months. We would go in February and March to do repairs & clean. I like the line about being 1/4 mile away from the sun.

~sorry for the thread derailment...

Thanks 04sleeper, That is good to know. It's got to be the fan. Last night I thought maybe this whole time I had the fan control set to kick in at too high of a temp but only got a little adjustment out of it. So today I get out of class and the car is dead. I use a battery disconnect when I park the car so nothing has power except the fan and the radio (memory). The fan must have been running almost non-stop while I was in class. Started right up after work and between classes though.

I REALLY dislike this fan more and more evreryday. I wonder if my clutch fan would fit in there...

Btw, what kind of numbers is he runnin'? Is it his DD?
He's putting down around 600 RWHP and 525 TQ.

No this is not his daily driver.

Just a little FYI. I switched from a brand new clutch fan to an SN-95 e-fan set on low on my old coupe and it ran much cooler. This was in South Florida where I lived for 20 years. I know it does not get as hot as AZ but I thought I might throw it out there.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck.

Thanks Sleeper,

Well the drive to school got up to about 210* at the hottest. Then after school when it's usually the worst time, It never went above 210*!!

I didn't run the a/c just to see what it would do under 'normal' conditions. So tomorrow I'll run it with the a/c on to see how hot it really gets while I'm comfortable inside. I am pleased with the way it is now. I guess if i need it to run even cooler i could remove the s/c belt. Just to see if that would make a difference. I still haven't picked up the tester though.

Thanks for everybody's help. I have become addicted to this site because I always get any issues resolved!!

I will probably sell the Black Magic Extreme fan and one day get the viper fan or spals. For now I'm happy I'm able to drive it and not go over 210*

Thanks again. You guys rock.
