Help me out. Code P0125. Coolant temp.

The other day my CEL came on. It threw a code P0125: Closed Loop Fuel Control, Insufficient Coolant Temperature. I had it scanned at Advance. They said I needed to replace my coolant temperature sensor. So I bought one and changed it out. The CEL went off immediately, for a few days, but today, it came on again. Advance scanned it again, same damn code. Now they are saying that maybe my coolant is not reaching proper operating temperature. I HAVE noticed that my gauge reads quite a bit cooler lately than it used to. I know that the stock gauges suck, but it's a significant difference. I'm not sure if my coolant/water mixture is bad or if its a bad thermostat, or what. I'm thinking about flushing the coolant to start off. What do you guys think? Any ideas?

Make sure your thermostat is opening. Take it out and drop it in a pot of water on the stove. use a thermometer, and heat the water, note what temp it starts to open up at.

if it wasnt opening, it would overheat. If it is stuck open, the car would run cold.
Did you remove your thermostat?
Either way, Drop the $5 and get a new one.

You are right, I don't know what I was thinking ( loaded up on cold meds today). I should have said, check to see if it is stuck open.

Yea I don't have time to let the car cool down before it gets dark. I won't have enough time to after work tomorrow either. I hate this sunset at 5:30 PM crap. I'll have to buy a new stat and some coolant tomorrow, and I'll make a day of it on Sunday. Fun-fun.

Oh, I also noticed that once in a while, I hear this "click" sound from the engine. There's no pattern or anything to it, it just randomly clicks once in a while. I don't think it was doing that before the CEL came on.

you abviously like your car.... over time, you will become parinoid and "hear" things...

...little things here and there....
and then your brain will take over and go into the "what if" mode...


like "what if that click was a piston ring falling off.... or a broken valve, or a melted flux capacitor...

soon, you will have 100's of little sounds that scare you.

there is a solution to all of them...

Remove mufflers and get some subs...

Tstat = 10 minute change Don't even need to add coolant if you raise the hose up quick enough
