I've searched but come up with little information that's very helpful. Please help me to narrow my search for some new tires. Here are the things to factor in to your recommendations, in order of importance:

1. Cost. I'm in college and every cent I can save counts. I'm not trying to find the cheapest possible tire, but rather one that is a good balance of cost vs. benefit. This includes tire wear, because if the tires wear really fast then it's just going to cost more to replace them again later.

2. Performance. My mods are in my signature below, and the soon to be added ones should be on the car within two months. That being said, I doubt there will be much more added performance wise for quite a while. The car is driven 96% on the street, but is also very rarely driven in rain and never in snow.

3. Looks. I don't really car a whole lot about what the tread looks like, so if it looks good it's just a bonus.

Currently I have 275/40/R17's on the back, and 255/45/R17's on the front. The tires on the car now are Kumho Ecsta's.

What do you think/recommend? Thank you for all your help! :SNSign:

If you have the 712's currently.....I would recommend getting another set of those. YOu cant go wrong. THere pretty good, predictable, and a good value. Before I finished reading your post I already had those in mind..... I ran a 255/40/17 on my 17x8 cobra wheels for years until I flatspotted the crap out of the fronts on a road course.

Or if you are ok w/ a little less trad life maybe an ecstasa MX or a Falken Azenis RT-615 (what I run now). The falkens are just sick for autocross and open track days .

Go to tire rack .com , I run sumitoma htr. 315-40-17 on rear and 255-45-17 on front. they were about $75.00 a tire and shipping was about $25.00 for all 4.I have been very happy with them , plus the price was great.
