What I want:

Tone: Deep, throaty, a little "burbly" at idle.... not too far from the stock tone.
Loudness: Don't want "wake up the neighbors" loud, but definately want 2 or 3 cars next to me to hear me coming. I want jaws to drop, but more from tone than volume.... as long as it doesnt get too loud INSIDE, its cool though.
Drone: As little as possible, this is a daily driver.

I also want to keep it as affordable as possible. Ive been thinking of going with an American Tunder Catback, or a Catted H-Pipe (possibly BBK) with the Delta 40 mufflers.... ive also considered a catted h-pipe with a Force 2 catback... but that would be a bit expensive. What should I get?

Mac exhaust line :)

MAC Pro-Chamber and Magnapacks! The sound of the exhaust is SICK!! The best part are all the looks that I get from people as I haul past them. It is real quiet at idle, then about 3000 RPMs it get crazy loud! It will set some car alarms off pretty easily. The whole thing with installation was around $700, and for that price I would do it again!

If you want a deep throaty muscle car sound then IMHO the best set-up is the MAC Prochamber with a chambered muffler. If rust is not too much of a problem in your area, then I would go with the MAC cat-back. This is the setup I have and it turns heads. I have had no problems with rust as the roads out here are not salted.
At idle to 2000 RPM you will have a drone (but that is the price you pay for a muscle car) and the tone will be deep and strong. At WOT, they will hear you blocks away.
Check mustangexhaust.com and listen to the various setups.

hey thanks alot.... wow looks like I have alot more choices to look into. Ive heard alot about the Prochamber, but does it have cats? I need something that will pass emissions. Oh and rust is not a problem where I live.

Check the sig. Dunomax runs a little quieter, but at WOT, there's no difference. Little drone @ 2000 rpm, but that seems common in most setups. At idle, its almost as quiet as stock. Very minor but throaty tone. Certainly not the cheapest setup, though. Just another option...

i had dynomax turbo tubes on my 88 lx and they were awesome, but they don't make them anymore. so on my 02 i have the closest thing, slp loud mouth. they sound awesome and are loud as hell if you want to be loud but if your going past a cop they can be really quiet.

Getting a little off topic but ive never heard magnaflows in person, are they really THAT quiet? Compared to just Delta 40 mufflers welded in, which is louder? Is it louder than the Force 2 catback? (sorry i keep mentioning flowmasters but its all ive ever heard in person) I remember I test drove an 01 GT with just the Delta 40's and the tone was pretty much exactly what I was looking for but it wasn't really loud enough, I don't know if the mufflers with a high-flow H-Pipe would make much of a difference or if the C/B alone would be better. Basically since im so limited on cash it's basically either a new mid-pipe or a new cat-back.... if I get the mid-pipe I might be able to squeeze in some mufflers too if they aren't too expensive.
