help me verify this sound

when i push my clutch in almost immediately i can hear a grinding sound, definitely moving in a circular motion. and my clutch (king cobra) seems to be a bit heavier, only when the car is on. Im pretty sure i got some salt or sand into the bell housing and it probably did something to my throwout bearing. all i have to do is put a little bit of pressure on the clutch pedal and you can hear the throwout bearing (at least i pretty sure its that) spin as if there was no grease in it any longer.

if it is the throwout bearing, is there any way i can put grease into it or around it without dropping the tranny? i was thinking i could probably do it where the clutch cable connects to the (forgot the name of that part the cable connects to on the tranny.) transmission. maybe by taking that little cover off and reach a grease gun into there?

I'm running the KK setup as well and the clutch isn't even 6 months old - when I got off work tonight it's making a "clicking" sound when I press it in - not so much a grinding but more so like something's f**ked up with the pedal itself - any suggestions? The clutch works fine other than that doesn't slip or anything. I didn't do anything stupid to the car either latley like run it too hard or what not.

Your description DOES sound like it's the throw-out bearing. That's about all the affirmation I can give you, not having heard it myself. They are non-greasable, sealed units. It has to be changed. It's a lot of work for such a small part but Ive shredded a number of them over the years and your description is the same one that's sent me into fits a time or two. hehe

Update - I had my buddy put the clutch in while I had the hood up - I'm positive (almost) it's not the TOB - I think my situations a little different but the clutch pedal itself has become stiffer - possibly re-adjusting itself - but its a "click click" as you put the clutch in - like a ratchet - no noise coming from the tranny underneath so I've singled it out to the firewall area as I can barely hear it from the engine bay. Did the cable just tighten itself up? I've got a new Ford ADJ cable in so maybe that's the case and its just normal? In any case I'm actually kind of glad the pedal has a tighter feel?

try messing with your firewall adjuster. mine clicked when i had it set too low, little tweaking and it stopped.

as for my throwout bearing, i pulled off the cover housing the throwout bearing arm or whatever that thing is called. looked in as best as i could...the shaft doesn't look damaged and i was able to get some grease on it (with a long tie wrap and some grease on the end haha...cant get my hand in there.) but you said they are contained bearings (i couldn't remember if it was or not when i installed the clutch). that explains why the bearing is still making the noise even after i blasted it with a little wd40. though the noise isn't as bad. im just going to have to drop the tranny. thats a lot of flippin work for a bearing.

I have a "click, click" sound when I push my clutch in too. It's been driving me nuts! Sounds like it is in the pedal assembly itself. I actually removed the clutch safety switch thinking that was it. What else could it be besides the throw out bearing? I also have a King Cobra clutch.
