So I take my mustang to the local road race track every once in a while. What is a decent suspension setup for a guy on a budget that will help the 5.0 turn a bit better, right now the suspension is bone stock and plan to at least due bushings.

Thanks

That is a good start but I guess I should also ask, what is the best order to install suspension/handling parts, I cant afford 1000+ bucks for the kits on the site, where do I begin?

Tough to say, but you might as well save up for the kits. For instance, the starter box which is over $1000 comes with only dampers, springs, and caster/camber plates. You could buy caster/camber plates and install them on a stock suspension car and they might help it handle a bit by allowing you to dial in some negative camber, but probably not noticeable.

But, if you bought just a set of springs and kept the stock dampers they're really not going to help much since they wont be matched up with adequate dampers. Likewise if you bought dampers and kept the stock springs they wouldn't be a good match. Also if you bought springs and dampers together but no caster/camber plates you wouldn't be able to get a proper alignment/proper camber.

So with that said, my recommendation is to start saving your pennies and buy it all at once. The boxes are put together as stages so you can sort of see how you can progress the suspension as your budget grows. There's not really a cheap/easy way to get a fox mustang to handle well, you've gotta spend some coin. If you want something cheap that handles well buy a miata.

^ hard to beat 50/50 weight distribution in a car that weighs next to nothing. theres a reason so many people road race them.

he's correct about it taking quite a bit of money to make a fox handle, but it is do-able,just like making one fast its just a matter of the correct COMBINATION of parts working together. study up

I went with Maximum Motorsports all the way. I to had to do it in stages. Here are the steps I took.

Subframe, K-member brace and shock tower brace (stiffening package)
Changed all shocks and struts
Lower control arms and panhard bar (rear grip package) should have bought the torque arm wish I had
Next will be the torque arm, and coil overs on all 4 corners

my vert handle much better and is really limited by my stock brakes. Definitely plan on a seriuos brake upgrade before to long. If you are still unsure about what order to do things call Maximum Motorsports they are extremely helpful and friendly. I hope this was helpful
